Mining loadout for Cobra Mk III
HI all, was wondering how much cargo space u go with ( i go with 16x2) in a cobra mk iii for mining ?

Also if I have a prospector limpet controller and a collector limpet controller if the drones are a ton each it seems that I will have a hard time filling up the hull with all those diff drones and cargo space needed for mining.

What's the best loadout for a Cobra Mk III for mining ?

Thx in advance

Anyone ?
There is no best loadout. Myself been mining shieldless but don't complain to me if you emulate that strategy and fly into an asteroid. 52 t of cargo is what that Cobra holds.

Drop into the planetary rings outside the extraction zone and enjoy the quiet serenity of no pirates. Listen to some music. Pray you don't smash into rocks. Return to station. Repeat.
Thx, yea I go shieldless. Do u use prospectors ?
Prospectors are worth it. They reduce the risk of headbutting rocks, increase the ore count you get, and save time. Since collector limpets are reusable you mainly expend prospectors.
Was just wondering what's the max cargo space I can get in the Mk III with a collector limp controller and a prospector limp controller ?

collectors are reusable but had limited lifetime, which is Wrong in my opinion, since they presistently re-charged/re-frshed/maintained after unloaded into ship refinery each time, just like airspace drones do today, for example. different-rated collectors may had different buff/nerf aspects instead, ie range, hp amoung, speed, turn rate and even carry capacity bonus.(and other options. turn on you imaginations bout possibilities).

Am I right (with somewhat limited 36t cargo in my Mk III) by blasting asteroids first to take one chunk off and then seeing if they're any good, and THEN attaching a prospector to them and blasting the rest off ?
Best thing to do is just go right ahead & have a go.

I have the cobra which i am using as a multipurpose because i cant afford one of the better all purpose ships yet, might go for the asp explorer.

I am using the best refinery(6 bins) go for the best you can otherwise you will keep having to eject stuff after deciding what to keep/what is worth more. I kept my shields because i like to go nav beacon bountu hunting inbetween mining.

I dont use prospector limpets or collector limpets because it means giving up shields & my fuel scoop. I like the fuel scoop for getting free fuel even though price of fuel is low anyway but i think i might do abit of exploring so i keep my scoop for that reason.

When i tried mining for the first time it took me more then two hours to get a full cargo i think 32 because i only had a 3 bin refinery & i had to keep choosing what to eject/keep etc.

I normally blast off 3 chunks then collect them because they loose hp over time so you cant just blast all the chunks off at once then collect them. A collector limpet may be the way to go to save time here in my case.
I got a 9 bin refinery so that's not a problem. Thank you for your comprehensive response.
