I'm assuming from this you are in a fleet carrier wanting to mine your needed Trit while in the black. Pirates shouldn't be an issue there if this is the case and like me, I did a similar build for when I'm outside the bubble for my ExoBio runs. I enjoy this build for this purpose and sure others will share theirs as well.

No weapons, all mining gear incl 3 lasers for faster surface mining
But a Python has enough hardpoints for weapons in addition to mining lasers, so it's perfectly viable to use a combat hybrid.
Not if you know how to handle them properly. Pirates only spawn once, when the instance is created. You get out of supercruise, instance gets created, Pirates spawn.
What do you do if you're completely unarmed? You wait for them to scan you, there's nothing valuable in your ship, so they go away, eventually they jump out. Even if you don't want to wait that long, you can just move away a couple hundred kilometers.
As long as you don't reset the instance by going back to Supercruise or relogging, Pirates will never spawn again. Therefore, no need for weapons on a mining ship.
The only exception to this rule would be Resource Extraction Sites, for obvious reasons. But you don't get those in uninhabited systems away from the bubble.
So there you go: https://edsy.org/s/vnR5agQ
A few tweaks and we went from 8 limpets to 13. Or 10 limpets and a 64 ton cargo capacity increase. You're welcome
Edit: in EDSY, you can generate shortilnks by going to Ops in the upper right corner, then Export. Nobody likes seeing those text wall hyperlinks ;

RE: Engineering; Make friends with the Dweller when you get back to the Bubble.
If you want a Fuel Scoop, take the 5A Prospector off and put it there, and switch one of the Collectors for a 3A Prospector instead. I wouldn't do that, though, better off using this baby right off the deck of the FC. List price: 82.64 million, with 15% discount around 75 million, and with a pre-engineered 5A FSD, 70 million.
Also, if you are in Colonia, you may have noticed there's not exactly a lot of Tritium to be purchased from the Stations. So, it also makes me wonder exactly how much Platinum you're going to be able to sell there, and even if you can and do make bank, where are you getting the Tritium, other FCs?
I'll offer you something of greater value: How about I give you the System names for 3 systems far enough from Colonia that Pirates aren't a problem and there's Tritium in them?
EOL PROU EK-P C6-127 -- very close to Colonia. Last time I saw it planet 8 had a Tritium hotspot.
DRYOOE FLYOU RU-C C27-282 -- No Tritium in this system but it did have good raw material collection options for Fuel Synthesis.
DRYOOE FLYOU DK-W C16-68 -- Planet 4 has a Tritium Hotspot.
DRYIO FLYUAE VC-E B14-17 -- Planet 1 has a Tritium Hotspot and there are many Neutron Stars nearby.
Python is exactly what I run for mining. Great ship. Got 2 mass butt lazierz incase also. Trai that.
