Servers appear to be overloaded lol.

Not the game servers. They seem fine.

The ARX store servers... Can't buy the Pre built, can't buy cosmetics or ARX... Connection just keep timing out.

I wouldnt be as negative towards frontier as I was if they actually tried to add more gamechanging content updates other than new ships behind "early access paywalls" and rewamp of a system that is inherently pointless to most solo players. (power play)

Ignores 2 years of Thargoid war content - ship and on-foot based, new missions, many new outfitting modules, new environments, and all for free.

dont forgett the dlc. not all is free

The ED ad for the Python II mentioned SCO features... is there something unique to the ship's design or something that only this variant has, or is it just that it comes stock with a SCO or something?

Did I read the news post correctly that the Python Mk 2. is only available to players with the Odyssey xpac?

You can unlock it in Horizons 4.0 with ARX but it won't be free in August as it is in Odyssey.

I think Odyssey is cheaper than the arx to unlock the Python though?

It's far more stable when SCO is active. (Doesn't swing around as wildly.)

Same. Kerching!

Hope they spend all this cash on new features for the game.

So you don't need odyssey for this ship to work but they force you to pay either for the ship or for the expansion

Is this allowed??

Nobody is forcing you to do anything. If you don't want to buy Odyssey, don't. If you don't want to spend money on ARX to get the Python mkII, don't. Wait till August.

I've been playing the game for thousands of hours, spread across almost an entire decade. I have no problem with throwing a little extra cash at it every now and again.

Development for Horizons ended many years ago. They develop for Odyssey now. Which means that to use this newly developed content you most probably will need to buy Odyssey.

They may port some of that development back to the base game/Horizons for free. But they are definitely not obliged to. Horizons is fully developed as is.

I thought the Odyssey bit of the game was the on-foot shooter, separate from the in space bit?

"Separate" as it's a DLC, but they're interconnected as the one-foot Odyssey is the just being on foot in the Elite universe. If you have both, you can fly your own ships and disembark onto planets or to Odyssey missions. Or if you just have Odyssey, you'd take the taxi service to get around instead of flying your own ship.

I did not know you could have Odyssey as a stand-alone, not that it would appeal to me.

You can't, if you mean to ask that sincerely.

I have absolutely no idea where so many people get this idea that Odyssey is separate from the rest of the game. It isn't, and never has been. It genuinely baffles me why some folk think this. Maybe I'm just too well-informed on the matter.

It's certainly one that feels disconnected, mind you, as there's absolutely zero need to have anything done on foot for your spaceship affairs, and vice versa, but they've always been part of the same game.

TBH, I have long blamed the disconnect on players screaming about not wanting to feel "forced" to do on-foot stuff during the build-up to it going live. (I, too, buy an expansion to not do the content that said expansion offers) (For legal reasons this is sarcasm)

I really did get the impression back then that Frontier wanted to integrate the two a lot more.

Between player screeching and, it would seem, the PEGI rating complicating matters, that never happened.
