Python mk II is a NERF to the combat Python
So, according to pre-testers, the Python mk II added a large hardpoint to the Python. HOWEVER, they reduced the distributor from a size 7 to a size 6.

This means that the ship no longer has enough distributor power to even power all those guns. Having all the guns in the world doesn't matter if you can't power them. It's the biggest problem with the Federal Corvette, and the reason why the mk II will deal LESS damage than the classic Python.

Whoever designed this supposedly combat focused ship, doesn't really know much about combat. Hardpoints don't matter much... distributors do.

Oh well, we still have the classic Python, the Krait mk II, and the Federal Gunship, which can actually power all of their guns.

Nope. A fully engineered 7A distributor still doesn't provide enough power for my FGS to fire all of its guns all the time. 6A won't be nearly enough for four large and two medium hardpoints.

We could always get one because it looks cool lol

Well.... since we still won't get a proper midsize Saud-Kruger passenger ship, we still have use for a Python.

It's totallly ridiculous, that we have 3 different dedicated passenger ships, but yet a Python is the most suitable ship for running passenger missions. So we _will_ have use for the Python MkII of course... <eg>

Thanks for the laugh, FDev!

I watched Brother Sab using a Python II with 6 plasma chargers smashing up NPCs in a Haz RES.

Maybe test it for yourself before writing it off?

And yep, the idea is to give it SOME weaknesses so you have to compromise, otherwise you would just use this ship and nothing else.

Gonna outfit a new Python the same as my old Python...

A Frag boat.
Pacifiers use way less distributor power.
It seem's the armour will take a hit, but I hear the mk2 has better shields?

I will make a direct comparison - and see what I can see! o7

Because i can't check for myself, for obvious reasons, i tried to put a 6A G5 Weapons Focused Distributor in an Anaconda in EDSY, so that i can simulate how 4 large hardpoints and 2 medium hardpoints behave on it.
  • 4 large and two medium G5 Overcharged multicannons: With 4 pips, the weapons capacitor lasts 1 minute, 39 seconds.

  • Because somebody mentioned them, i also tried OC G5 Pacifiers + frags. Won't even drain the capacitor with 2 pips.

  • 6 FC plasma chargers, 2.7 seconds, which due to how plasma chargers work, it's more than enough.

  • Even 6 x Efficient Beam Lasers last a very respectable 9.3 seconds.

So sorry that your 10 bucks didn't buy you the God tier ship you were expecting, but otherwise i don't see what's the problem here.

It is ironic, however, to see some of those who said "this is not pay-to-win" now complaining that the ship they paid for is not OP enough. :steamfacepalm:

What about if you're using kinetics in the large hardpoints (or large and huge on the corvette)? I never have the problem you keep mentioning with regards to the distributor vs hardpoints, unless I'm trying something daft; like an all plasmas build.

what?
four large?
and two medium?

I know what to do with it!

4x pacifiers! What else? These demand only very little from the distributor.

I have a krait with 3 pacifiers, it is already hullarious but 4 pacifiers OMG!!!

I foresee a sharp decline in Mamba usage...and an extremely sharp decline come august :steammocking:

Nah. Soon but right now you've got just a few of Frontier's selected streamers and what-have-you giving it a go double-early. (Just marketing, I'd think little of it)
