How much has changed since ending console support?

I stopped playing ED when Frontier stopped doing updates for the XBox. I was very angry when they announced that. Two days ago I finally join the PCMR again. I was curious as to what has changed. How's the games health? Solid player base? Any major new features or changes since then? I would love to jump back into the black. Take care commanders O7

They anounced a major overhaul of Power Play and four new ships (variants of existing ones). Then blew all the good will that generated out the window by introducing buying ships for cash, a la Star Citizen, including locking the newly announced ships behind 3 month "early access" pay walls and increased ARX store prices for cosmetics from ~100 - 300% including for remaining console users.

Oh and there are some big Thargoid ships you can help blow up.

DAMN, I really hate to hear that things have gotten this way. While I was crushed when they pulled console support, I was hoping that things would greatly improved for those on PC. Add to that the cosmetics that I would have to re-buy with the increased prices. UGH. guess my days of flying the black in ED are really over.

As for community, many are gone, new have taken their places.
Game probably has about the same number of people playing it.
I'm not sure the brain power is quite equal, people seem far more formulaic.
Still a few brains around on third party support.

^^ LMAO! Since when are the only valid reasons Positive ones? ie. Falsification counts as much as Verification does. In this case, the Verification was through a NOT gate, I guess Space Commies don't spend too much time studying Logic.

I don't recall stating I don't enjoy the game. The OP asked a question and I gave an honest answer. I stated the major developments since they left. It's not my fault if some of them happen to be negative. That's on Frontier not me.

I think that Odyssey breathed a new life into the game. It is still ED, with all its pros and cons bleeding into the new content. Its actual problems are old and not much about them has changed.

Fdev killed console development for Elite a couple of years ago though.

1. Quite good; still some odd bugs now and then.
2. Yes. 20K CMDRs present at previous titan assault.
3. The list of changes since that many years is too long to list here.

No improved VR for Odyssey, the on foot part is still in flat 2D.
Also Formula One Manager and Warhammer Age of Sigmar flopped comercially, so Frontier has decided to sell ships for ARX in Elite Dangerous and even rised the price for paintjobs, ship kits and other stuff in the ARX shop.

The reason for ending the console support has had IMHO nothing to do with the quality of the PC version of Elite Dangerous Odyssey.
It was more about Frontier lacking money and manpower to finish the games based on expenisve licenses, like Jurassic Park Evolution, Formual One Manager and Warhammer Age of Sigmar.

IMHO the PS5 and X Box X are powerfull enough to run Odyssey, and it was a stupid decission to not port Odyssey to those consoles.

If I want to know if a TV show is worth watching, I get several opinions. I don't get one opinion and immediately agree with that person.

Since you appear to have forgotten, let me remind you that for the first year after Ody launched those consoles were as rare as Pharma Isolators, and were selling for eye-watering prices.

Not only that, Sony decided to continue/restart production of the PS4.

At the same time, on the PC front we had $500 video cards going for $1200-1500 bucks, and old tech like 1660ti selling for $800. That's why I waited 2-3 years to get a 3060ti.

I don't know what proportion of playstations are PS5s now, but unless it's over 70% why would FDev release a copy of the game targeting that system?
