i dont know but maybe the fps were simply too low in settlements to implement this?
the last patch gives some boost
But at least they could have added depth to the picture so that we wouldn't be looking at a flat image. Even in Resident Evil 2, modders added depth when playing with a gamepad.
Agree idk why HUD is not added yet. May be technical.
Think about it there are other software out there like
VorpX - i herd there are people out in the community have got it to work with EDO but many of the posts get shut down as sum people do not want it to be made public knowledge.
and there is many of other VR software options if you do a search.
So yes you can enjoy EDO in VR you just need to think outside the Box

i am sure they have fixed alot of the software since then to make it a better experience

Still? When did they say, Odyssey will ever support VR?
Yes, but what the problem to make this? Just add two cameras to commanders head. Done.
The problem begins for quite a few players when they begin to smooth move around in the game, while their bodies are still sitting comfortably in a chair. An inner ear disagrees with eyes, and as a result a brain tells a body to throw up. FDevs probably want to work around this problem a better way than teleport jumps or blackouts for each step.
Many players have no issues with movement in virtual reality when they are seated. There are plenty of examples, such as VR mods for games like Alien: Isolation, Resident Evil, GTA, and so on. Let the developers add a checkbox for "enable/disable" VR in Odyssey. Right now, they are only thinking about players who don't play in VR. But we, VR enthusiasts, exist, and we bought Elite:Dangerous because the base game and Horizons DLC had VR support.
And so the developers go off and do it. Now normally, they realize that doing VR is actually quite difficult, doing VR well is very expensive, and it's all wholly dependent on an eclectic set of end-user hardware products that are so far from future-proofed or standardized that they may as well be ice sculptures.
Generally they give up at this point and release an afterthought. Occasionally, though, they soldier through and release something complete, which is how you get something like Horizons VR. For Odyssey, they only got to the afterthought.
Either way, after all of that money gets spent, the finance people take a look at the revenue that's actually coming in and say "Why are we spending so much money on these VR players when there are, like, 3 of them?"
And then game companies proceed to studiously ignore everything VR related for a while, not willing to public admit that they now regard their previous efforts in that regard as a mistake.
^You are here^
Eventually it'll come back around to the first stage, but the more they get prodded about VR the more they'll remember why they don't want to deal with it and the longer that will take.
Yes, it would be the best.
Not true. FDevs added VR to new ships and new SRV. If they weren't thinking about VR players, new stuff wouldn't have been working in VR.
Odyssey has exactly the same VR support that the base game and Horizons DLC has.
