I would have thought December would have been higher due to the Christmas ARX.

But yes, whether because they announced some upcoming ships, or the ability to finally destroy titans, activity has increased. It's funny how it does that when you give people something to do and/or look forward to.

More frequent ship releases and meaningful updates will continue to wake the game up, so long as they deliver and don't disappoint.

Wow cheering when the numbers go up a bit after 10 years because "obviously" it must prove something... that's more about Praw Paw Whut Gnu than Truth, too. Won't lie, I was surprised to see over 5000 players for a period of a day or two.

But yeah, celebratory datapoints divorced of 10 years of context? It's a Bold Strategy Cotton, let's see how that works out for them.

Why should anybody other than fdev and doomtubers care about the numbers, good or bad? If you like the game play it, if you don't then don't. Don't over-complicate things with unnecessary facts and figures.

That increase in numbers is hardly surprising, to be honest, seeing how the A-XI private group alone has been gaining players these last few days. A couple of weeks ago it had a bit over 7000. Now it's around 8500, and it seems like it's gaining players by the hundreds every day.

I hope Fdev plans for the summer (or after all titans are defeated, whatever comes first) can keep the momentum going.

(and yeah, a single, niche Private Group has more Elite players than the whole of Steam. Something to keep in mind for those who think that steam charts are in any way representative of the whole Elite playerbase)

I just started playing recently, organically. No real reason but the Steam news of new updates coming might be a factor. I wasn't having much fun the first time I tried, but this time around it clicked.

Just been grinding federal rank in my lil Cobra MK3 and enjoying it. So far the best way I've found to make money is the resource sites, just finishing off pirates, but want to try other things too.

Elite, even it is old. Elite Is still a reference for freelance style space game.

Whatever people say, the position of Elite is still strong on the market.

I don't care about the number of player, if the game is still running I'm ok with that.
That's not true in fact, I care about that in the way that there are enoughe people playing this game to keep it alive, and having some updates sometimes.

If think you mean Elite-style space games. Elite pre-dates Freelancer by almost 20 years! ;)

I am back to see what comes next. I realize a lot of people like the Thargoid invasion content, but It just went on for far too long to keep my interest. I found many elements to be tedious rather than exciting or relaxing.

I will, no doubt, drift away again when whatever is coming next gets old. Hopefully it will keep going so I can come back again and again to sample new content.

I agree, looks like too much like the X universe.
I would have enjoy more faction's war for example, or a special spot or way to jump in another galaxy with alien species... but that again looks like too much like X universe perhaps.
