collector limpets keep expring without delivering anything
Are they bugged? What is going on? There's so much loose stuff around from the motherlode that I just cracked but they'll expire before they even pick up a single item and I'm running 3A collectors which are supposed to have a 12 minute up time!!!!

They’ll die if your ship is positioned too close to the rocks.

make sure you have no chunks or anything selected when releasing a limpet.
Limpets have two modes. Either pick up single item and then self destruct, or keep searching new items as long the battery lasts. If you have something like a ressource chunk selected as target when starting a limpet, it will be in the first mode, just pick up that one thing you have selected and then self destruct. You get feedback suggesting that limpet has expired.

I honestly forgot you could target lock items because I am so used to using limpets on auto pilot. And like I said some times they will expire before I even get one item

Do you have a refinery installed?
Do you have anything filtered as 'ignore' in the contacts list?

When core mining they sometimes get stuck and deactivate or they crash against rocks. Its normal losing a few of them in the process. But this is usually maybe 10%.

Problem isn't the limpets, it's the hitboxes of fragments that's the issue.

This is evidenced by going to a "Minor wreck" planetary POI and seeing them get smithereened on the wreck fragments.
-problem is the pathing doesn't account for sharp edges or fastmoving hitboxes.

They've actually gotten quite good at not hammering into things otherwise.
ok, if they are failing before getting to ship, they are hitting something, or their timer has ran out.

To my knowledge, over 10 years from release, there is no nor has been a list to filter what is on ignore when it comes to "commodities, mining, or singularities. Frontier has been to stupid to think of what a list is or how to properly use a filtering system.

Saying this, please correct me if there is a list and where to see what the aforementioned items are. Seeing what has been place on list, such as fragments or singular items ext. ext.. ext.. would be VERY nice.
I have been begging Frontier to do this for 4 years and has fallen of deaf or just dumb ears. Possibly both.... :)

Go into the free camera mode and follow one when you launch it. Also look out for obstacles directly below you, within about 500M.

To the best of my knowledge, such a list is conspicuously absent... Admittedly I haven't looked very hard for one. Would be bloody handy sometimes though.

I can only suggest things based on what you ask here. I don't know anything about you or your knowledge of the game.

Contacts, select something (e.g. a bromellite fragment) then 'add to ignore list'

Also works for cargo canisters, escape pods, etc.

Am 99% sure there isn't one. -there's a few things that would be nice to have in the codex as overview lists for various settings; imo they would fit well there in a submenu.

That has to generate a list, to keep a a record... Now imagine that list was viewable in game, and you could peruse it and edit which ones you want to ignore; at your leisure... Without needing to have those specific materials in range of your scanner at the time...

You've got to admit there are times when that would at least be convenient.

It could be a toggle directly in the inventory of course; that way you can reactivate it right after having emptied the bins when engineering. -or an autotoggle when full or empty.
Idk if it is necessary though; whenever i find a mat that is on the list i only have to uncheck it.

Illegal or stolen cargo on the other hand.. -although i've no idea if that is possible.
