Does your capacitor hold enough charge to fire them?
You should not do a "select all copy/paste" though, use something like WinMerge so that you can inspect and compare, the new binds file has a section moved further down and an added section for on foot.
I also recommend that you create a new binds file with an unique name and edit line 2 to show the same name in game.
Some reported that the game sometimes flushes the custom binds but never a unique named binds file.
I assume that you got your ships power and weapon groups sorted, beside that it works in Horizon?
https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/37799 (not mine)
Weapon pips are maxed out - no joy.
There is enough power from engines for the weapons to fire.
This used to work just fine before odyssey - no change on my side.
Not in exploration (blue ) mode.
Tried it at all ranges to a locked target - no joy.
I mapped the spacebar to fire the weapon - same result - guns spool up (clearly hear the sound effect) but no firing.
I don't think its the button mapping, as my other ship (Viper) works just fine - Beam lasers and Gimbal weapons. The primary fire works just fine there.
Primary fire works also on the SRV for its weapons
Just will not fire the Rail guns on my Vulture.
I noticed though - and I cannot remember what exactly should be there - but I will try to arm the Rail guns, and it says its full (80 rounds) - but when I activate my hardpoints in flight, it shows 1/80 for the ammo count - is that right or should it be 80/80? If so, why is it telling me the mmo is full?
If that's not it - I am really frustrated now as I enjoyed my Vulture with the Rails and think there is something simple going on here I am missing.
Can someone remind me where the keybinds files are so I can try what Joerg said above? Even though I think the keybinds are ok, I am willing to try anything at this point.
I had this issue initially with my lasers, tried remapping the keys, remapping the fire groupings, relogging. In the end, what fixed it for me was deploying the hard points, and then cycling through the various cockpit modes (combat, exploration) several times. After the second 'cycle' the weapons started firing again, and haven't had any issues since.
It was almost like while it was showing as combat mode on screen, I wasn't actually in combat mode.
1/80 is correct.
It's NOT 1 of a possible 80; it's 1 loaded and ready to fire, and 80 in reserve.
Tried swapping out the weapons... I put on Beam lasers.. They dont fire either.
This ship is .. broken.. lol
The primary fire key does eveything else perfectly in the ship - I can cycle menus and choose options, i can use it to fire my indertictor cable, etc... just not weapons .. at least in this ship.
Hold on. The pips only change the recharge rates. They do not affect the capacity of the distributor. Even with zero pips assigned to your weapons, you should be able to open fire as long as there's enough charge in it to power the railguns.
What is the class and size of your distributor? Please also specify whether it is modified or not, and if modified, specify which modifications are present. If your railguns are trying to drain more power than the max amount that the weapons capacitor can hold, that would be a possibility and we haven't ruled it out just yet.
EDIT: Two more things to consider here:
1.- Are your firegroups configured?
2.- Are the railguns deactivated in the modules panel?
3.- Are you receiving a "power plant capacity exceeded" notification when deploying hardpoints? Alternatively, when you deploy hardpoints, do you see anything in the Modules panel, marked in red?
The ability to fire railguns is not affected by the range to the target. The only weapons I can recall right now that won't fire unless you're within range, are launcher-type weapons with homing function.
The report provides very little information. From what little is available, it's not possible to isolate variables so as to rule out user error.
If it is indeed a bug, then it would likely be associated to a specific type of control input. Are you also using a HOTAS or joystick?
The reason I'm asking is that I use the Fed Dropship on a regular basis and I have never experienced those issues. I also have never flown that ship with a HOTAS or joystick.
Have you tried my fix? What was the result?
left side fires properly, right side only keeps charging
