TBH all I would like are a few QOL tweaks, such as the ability to save routs when planning a journey. Just little stuff like that. As long as the game is going to be supported for the near future, which according to their recent statement is the case, I am a happy commander.

continued support in the near future makes me a happy commander too . The ability to save routes would be nice . ploting a route then needing to refuel and re selecting route is what u wana fix i assume with saving routes

I like to speculate on what an update might contain, but I don't do hype.

But they did say this about the livestream:

"We have lots of exciting news to share about what's coming for Elite Dangerous"

A cynic might say the 'exciting news' is a series of twitch drops and a UK-only competition to win a gaming chair or something, but we'll see.

I'm sad to be going, but take great comfort from knowing that my last efforts on @EliteDangerous are helping to create one of the coolest things we have ever done in the game. You will have to wait until update 18 is released to see what it is though.

While he was on the team almost from the start, he was a senior designer, not a lead dev.

(the distinction is important because there are unfortunately way too many people spreading falsehoods atm, especially wrt elite being abandoned and all devs gone which is patently false. I suspect certain youtubers had a hand in spreading nonsense to garner clicks)

And yes he will be sorely missed. -with his CV and work ethic i am confident he will go on to make great things.
