Elite Dangerous

Elite Dangerous

4K Problem
So. I just upgraded from a 1080P Plasma tv to a 4K Sony Bravia. Love It! but... all my games seem to handle the resolution just fine except for Elite Dangerous. It looks pixelated as all hell and i cant seem to find a fix. I've readjusted the resolution in the ingame settings to match my display and Im also using Nvidia control panel for settings. I have a GTX 980 TI. anyone else come across this problem? This is such a beautiful game and it's killing me not being able to use it and take advantage of the 4K.

you try restarting that seemed to do it for me

You might have to edit some .ini files; have you tried increasing supersampling aswell?

Here's a pretty decent video showing some tweaks:

I wouldn't bother with the mods that add effect over the game (like reshade) though. File tweaks start at 5:32.

SS goes to 2.0 (I think). Increase it.

Note that super sampling a 4k resolution to 2.0 will render at 8k and the 980TI can't handle that very well

Try playing at 1080p with 2x SSAA. It's essentially the same thing. You might get better performance.

Sounds very strange. I play in 4k and don't have any of your described symptoms. I'm using a proper monitor not a 4k TV though.

OP have you disabled all your tv's image processing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥? also known as gaming mode.

well, im an idiot. i had the damn thing in full-window mode instead of fullscrean. i changed it and now it looks amazing. wow. it's always the little things that get by ya.

The monitor wouldn't change much, except that monitors usually have a higher pixel density, so there's more pixels per square inch, which means that an image would look better.
TVs can be massive sizes because you're relatively far away from the TV, but you'll be close to monitors.
