Oh here we go with more of the "THIS ISN'T SIMULATION" arguments.
Disable Flight Assist if you want actual physics affecting your ship at all times. Flight Assist is the AI system of a computer built over 1000 years in the future that automatically provides counter thrust and corrective maneuvers to everything you do as a pilot. Moving forward? Throttling down will provide counter thrust equal to how close to Zero your thrust it. Rolling left? Counter thrust will be provided to roll the ship right when you ease up on the roll axis to keep the ship from rolling forever.
Disable flight assist and now all of that stops. You have complete and total control over your ships orientation in space as the ship will no longer correct anything you do, meaning if you want to slow down, you need to provide reverse thrust manually, or if you want to change directions, you will need to provide that thrust yourself or you will continue to fly through space in the direction you were aimed at until something else stops you.
Gee. it's almost like in the 34th century they've figured out how to automatically correct pilot error to make the process of flying a space ship as easy as possible.
I've played Star Citizen and it's uneccesarily complicated. They've essentially take in-atmosphere flight mechanics of the modern day and applied them to space, causing all sorts of obnoxious "features" like the fact that even the slightest turn will start to cause your pilot to black out.
You have essentially said "a simulator has to be extremely hard and complicated otherwise it's not a simulator" which is so far from the truth it makes me want to kill myself. A simulator is something that simulates something. Difficulty has nothing to do with it. Have you ever flown a space ship with FTL capable drives and rechcarging energy shields armed with high-intensity plasma cannons? No? Then who are you to say 'THIS ISN'T ACCURATE"?
Third Person will provide a wider field of view and a tactical advantage over people using first person view, which is more than enough reason to not add it.
The game is meant to be played in first person and nothing you or anybody can say or do will change that. If you are incapable of playing without third person view, then go somewhere else.
No one here said that he cant play the game because FP only. We talking about optional 3p view but yaeh - wont happen.
Actually i just need some better view when i land on planets because inside cockpit i can't see all the ground "elements".
@Iongstar, Where is the beauty in space games if you can't see the massive detail in ships? That space feeling is not there without seeing your ship.
@mordin86, Looks like Star Citizen got it right. Just as I mentioned, I fight in first person and travel in 3rd. ED should remove essential huds for combat in 3rd person view so you can't combat unless in first view.
@Gera, very well said. I agree, the radar is by far the most terrible I've ever seen in a flight game.
@mrraybaker, we pay to play and have fun. This is not a tournament. There's no money involved who comes in first. It's about enjoying the game. When you play games that are 3rd person, you actually see that character which makes it more real. I never touched Destiny because it wasn't 3rd person. Everyone who played Destiny will tell you, the third person view was awesome until you went out in the real world and it switched to first person. Remember one thing.
I play Star Citizen. Even though it has 3rd person, I choose first person for combat. Same goes with ground combat. Remember folks, this is not real life. It's a video game. You're really not seeing your blind spots as you would in real life. 3rd person is not an advantage. First person cripples you. Unless you want to buy me two more monitors for a wider view. Bottom line, space is not pretty. It's black, lonely and quite depressing. The only beauty you see in the game is the ships and stations. Other than that, dead space. Where is the beauty in the game? Graphics 5, sound 7, gameplay 8, UI 3, overall 7.5??? IDK, you tell me.
Bottom line is, the UI is terrible. We're in the 21st century. It's 2016. Make it more intense and futuristic. The UI looks really dull. I just want to leave my cockpit and view my ship.
As for 3rd person view for combat ? Hell no. Want to see your ship ? go debug camera, outfitting or SRV and there you go.
Nothing else to be said.
Old Elite has it :) also modern jet fighters do have mirrors.
Old elite was single player, there was no need to worry about the impact 3rd person would have in relation to other players.
We are here to discuss ED and not disparage people who enjoy other games.
Thanks.
