Elite Dangerous

is Adder a good buy?
Well I ground out a lucrative freight contract and bought an adder. I dunno much about the ships in ED, but is the adder a good ship? Anyway...It made me smile when I was paid the full amount for the contract too. Let me know.

Adder is a good starter miner and transport or trader. Not a good fighter.

Yep. Recommend.

While it might not be DESIGNED as a fighter--the Adder is surprisingly maneuverable. Mostly it's a better Hauler.

I couldn't bring myself to sell my 'sploring Adder, it was my first little exploration vessel and a lovely little runabout.

The interior looks a bit like a spacegoing people carrier, but don't let that put you off, it's actually great for an early cheap ship - hit the buy button.

Yes, a very good ship, was flying her for some five hours, before I got the money together for the Cobra MkIII, which then pretty much stayed for the next fifty.

The interior put me off the Adder. How the top corner of the view is blocked by the upper canopy. Its a great ship for the price, but that covered part just annoyed the hell out of me.

I remember one player describing the Adder as the EuroVan of Elite. Pretty accurate I think--and that ENGINE noise! lol

And to the OP, I went straight to Adder from my Sidey. Didn't regret it at all.

Found the adder to be an excellent smuggling vessel. Also with military bulkheads and a turret it can handle itself in low intensity resource zones. Which the hauler really can't. Really good ship overall.

Not true.

Adder is a really good ship. Was my step up between the sidey/eagle and the Cobra III.

Approved!
I decided to buy Adder instead of the Hauler back then when I was new, despite everyone telling me that it's a mistake.
I did well. Adder is simply superior, especially when it comes to cockpit style. Bought the Hauler recently to check on, and it's meh.

Yeah, the windows were the only thing that budged me into an upgrade.

I too bought an Adder as the first upgrade from the newbie Sidey. No complaints here. Even kitted it out as an armed trader and did quite well in nav beacons. WIth the cargo space and weaponry improvements over the Sidey, I earned enough to buy a Cobra III in no time.

After I got the Cobra, I kept the Adder and tried retrofitting it for mining, but this was back before the prospector limpet buff, when mining was very blah. An Adder just didn't have the scope for good mining back then, so I ditched it.

The adder is a great starting multipurpose ship.

It was my step between the sidewinder and the cobra. Good at killing pirates in low res and nav beacons, decent at trading and smuggling, great at exploring for its price, and a good starting miner.

You can't go wrong with it.
