Elite Dangerous

Elite Dangerous

Game key revoked?
I don't understand what happened here, but It seems liek my game key was revoked.

I bought ED:Horizons almost 2 weeks ago and a few days ago a second game title started to show up in my library, Elite Dangerous vanilla. I knwo that they were changing the payment options for the game so i thought no big deal it will work itself out. Then today, the vanilla ED was removed from my library, but now Horizons says purchase instead of play.

It seems i no longer have a key for either game. I also got a red warning message at the top of Steam saying a gift has been removed from my library, unknown package 84983.

I tried to make a ticket at the support site but i don't seem to have an account there either and I've tried my Steam account and that says Not Authorized.

The steam support requires a separate account specific for support that you then link to your account... In case you loose access to the account you can then ask there and recover it.

Login on frontier website with your account for elite and see if you have your game registered there, you can even download there elite dangerous...

Do this and report back for us to further help you

if you bought it thru Steam it should show as a purchase in your account history

I didn't know there was a second Steam account for support, I don't think I have ever created that. How would i go about making it or checking what it is?

btw, thanks for the help.

Did you buy the game on steam?
have you looked in your FD account on thier website to check if your keys are there?

I bought the game from G2A as a Steam gift, so I didn't even get a key.

And since it was revoked I can no longer see that I bought or activated the game, nor does it show a key there in my Steam account info.

I made a Steam support account now, and then I made a ticket at Frontier's support site. Sadly, I never registered my key there so they don't have it either.

I can't launch the game from vanilla ED anymore, it doesn't show in my library and also says purchase instead of play if I go to it from the store. But, I can play the game by starting the launcher inside the ED folder. So, it seems my account is still active. so Hopefully it IS just Steam having a problem..

It just seems weird that a Steam gift would be revoked for a bad payment two weeks after i bought it. Can a gift even be bad? Isn't a Steam Gift already paid for before it can be traded? It's also odd that this all heppened the same few days that Frontier started to change the way ED and the expansions are sold.

What a pain. I've made tickets on Steam and with Frontier hoping I don't have to go through the crap of trying to get a refund from G2A. I guess i should have known better. But, thanks for the help anyways, guys.

you can get a gift revoked yes, if the original buyer does a chargeback through their bank (or if hacker that bought a game with someone else money).
So... yeah it is possible and steam won't do a thing if it was a chargeback. even if you can keep playing, in case of a chargeback expect elite too to revoke your game soon since valve obviously reports that to the devs/publishers.

since it appears that your gift thing was not a official way to get the game you will probably have trouble getting it back or proove your point.

You have to have the key registered on frontiers side or else you wouldn't be playing before or now.

You now can just wait and see steam support reason for that. if it was a mistake or something else.

Good luck

yeah, buying from sites like that is a risk. those are usually stolen/key-gen'd cd keys, sometimes they never get noticed...other times you lose the game and your money(good luck getting anything back from where you bought it, since this scam is their lifeblood) When a deal seems too good to be true...it probably is.

Yeah, i think you must be right. I don't see anyone else having a similar issue so it must actually have been revoked. I should have known better.

Oh well, it was only $10 off, anyways. I figured that someone just bought it on a Steam sale and kept it as a gift to trade/sell later. I might as well try to get a refund and then pay the full price.

I just hope that i will be able to keep my progress. I have been grinding it out over these 2 weeks and it would break my heart to lose my Python and have to start over again.
