SELENIUM
Morning Commanders. Problem, and i am hoping someone can help. been trying to find selenium for weeks, watched so many online help videos, read many threads, followed all the instructions(even travelled 400LY to find brain tree's(which produce selenium) and for some reason, once i 100% scan a planet, it comes up with 2 or 3 or 4 notable signals(Geological) on the top right hand side, (have left the blue screen or and tried it off also), come out of the screen, but it doesn't come up on the planet(EVER), gone to the nav screen where i can select extractions, or a station or whatever - and it doesn't come up there either.(i also have every scanner type available that i can buy and fit). So what am i doing wrong? is this a glitch, or WTF is going on??? Any help is appreicated.

You want Biological signals, not Geological. Brain Trees are plants (Horizons plants, not Odyssey)

Also, when looking at the blue screen on the surface scanner, note the (Q) and (E) to change the filter. Swap to biological, if it's definitely the right planet.

I got alot of Selenium from the Canis Majoris Braintrees recently (body 5 C A) - I don't know what to say Cmdr!
Persevere - it's definitely doable o7

I'm not sure if this is one of the videos you have watched OP - but this is certainly the newest, most efficient method (Assuming you can find the trees of course!) o7

Hi, unfortunately I can't say anything to help you in that direction. However this also could be a way:

HIP 36601 - C 4 A - Selenium - (Not cryatal shards) HIP 36601 - C 1 a - Polonium HIP 36601 - C 1 d - Ruthenium HIP 36601 - C 3 b - Tellurium HIP 36601 - C 5 a - Technetium Outotz LS-K d8-3 - B 7 b - Ruthenium Outotz LS-K d8-3 - B 5 a - Yttrium Outotz LS-K d8-3 - B 5 c - Antimony

I have not been there yet; I had to go but then I decided to stay in the bubble to to blow up more pirates.
I no longer have the link to the video on YouTube, but I have read numerous confirmations, and there are images and video I saw, that the system is that.

Another was suggested to me:
HR 3230

Search for the topic
Route to HIP 36601
(here on our Steam forum) that I opened a short time ago asking for help, there you will find indications and alternatives.

Selenium is very easy to farm today, perhaps the easiest. It takes me 15 to 20 minutes to stock up full on selenium.

I am not at home atm and can't remember the place that I have marked on my map where I farm selenium. Its about 400 ly away from bubble, I will look up my mark when I come home if you want.

Selenium is found on moons that have so called "brain trees" that usually grow in large groups or even forests on moons.

A common method of farming is using SRV to shoot up the fruits and then collect it. About every third tree drops selenium. This way it takes about an hour at most to stock up full.

But there is also a much more efficient method farming Selenium and also other materials from crystal shards without SRV. For this however you need a special raw material farming ship. The idea is you bomb forests of brain trees, or crystal shards with missiles and collect the materials with collector limpets.

It works best with Anaconda (but may work with other ships as well, just not as quickly as with anaconda). Anaconda is best suit for it. You want a light-weight large ship that can run as many active limpets as possible and has some cargo space for the limpets. The more acrive limpets you can have at same time the faster you farm it. Also you want long jump range to get to the farming locations quickly.

I do it like this:
On reaching the destinaction and scanning it, flying low over surface until finding large group of trees or shards. Then use missile launcher to bomb it with missles. Then climb to about 800m over ground, release limpets and just sit there and wait for the limpets to pick up all the mats from the ground.

The most important thing is to do it from an altitude of over 800m over ground. The problem is that if you do it from lower altitude, most of the limpets will get stuck or destroyed by collision with terrain or trees. But you can trick around this problem. From certain distance from the ship limpets won't check collision anymore, so they don't get stuck and don't collide with anything when they are further away then about 750m. So if you climb to 800 or a bit higher, you are safe, limpets won't get stuck or hit the ground when collecting stuff.

edit:
Anaconda build that I use

optionally you could also run it shieldless and with an extra collector limpet controller. You are not interestning for the NPC pirates as you only carry limpets. But I prefer having some shielding in case i scratch the ground when flying low over surface looking for trees.
