Elite future is unknown. There are no roadmaps or news. There are more updates to come - that's what we know, more or less for sure.
Most of those things are things I hope never come to Elite, if I'm being honest. I get that some people want these things but I certainly don't. For me the very fact that Elite is not trying to be like every other game, the fact that it's not cramming a survival game element into a space sim, the fact that they have avoided micro-transaction or pay-to-win models that are so prevalent these days, the fact that they decided not to add certain features unless there's some real gameplay loops to go with them... all of these things are what keeps me playing Elite.
It's why I keep choosing Elite over all of these other games people like to compare it to and say "I wish it was like these games" that failed to keep my interest for more than a few dozen hours (if it even managed to get my interest at all). I definitely agree that there's potential for a lot more gameplay loops and things they could add to Elite that would enrich it, but I think they need to keep following their own vision instead of trying to copy other games. I think if they keep doing what they're doing, the game will likely keep going for years yet.
any chance you can tell us more about the future ?
I would rather have FDevs to develop something related to space, something that I can't easily do, myself, in real world.
No, thanks. Elements of that game kept less than 1/10th of my interest, comparing to this game. This game has better elements already.
Definitely. And it doesn't mean "copying other games" potential.
Just no! If you want to support the game - there are ARX to buy. If you want to buy exclusive ships, then you want to play a tech demo of a game, not Elite: Dangerous.
Base building with a load of expensive interior design DLC. e.g. 400 styles of fridge.
Showering, food and drink, and other essential survival elements.
Manual gathering of sticks and stones to craft your own pickaxe
A cousin who always wants to hang out and play darts
Idle clicker mode for when you're afk
Pets, pet breeding and subsequent pet sales to other players
At least 250 different ships.
Instant travel to cut out all that boring space stuff
Instant engineering to cut out all those grindy gameplay loops like ship to ship combat, cargo hauling, passenger transport, assassinations, base infiltrations, asteroid mining, thargoid hunting, refugee rescues, essential supplies transportation, settlement reactivations, pirate slaying, conflict zones, exploration, thargoid spire shutdowns, piracy, smuggling, scav slaughtering, targeting settlement generators, data courier missions, skimmer hunting, VIP transport, and many others that are just grind, grind, grind even the first time you look at them on a mission board.
allow mod support and all this will be possible & more
And I heard that the "proper game" is still not a game.
My opinions and wants:
It would definitely be great if they did a complete mission and NPC overhaul. incorporating AI into the NPC system would be very good. for example all NPCs have a dynamic voice and speech system. A better mission system where not only you but also your crew and other temporary members will participate will also be good. this would make the game very lively.
And the must-have feature for a new update we all want would definitely be Performance fix. I paid to play Odyssey and i can't even play it on a stable frame rate while horizons run stable 45fps.
