Are Frontier the scummiest developers ever?
Let me just say, these guys are asshats. I dont care if you agree or if you like the game, thats your decision.

First they released Elite Dangerous which is a shallow piece of utter garbage, which some people find fun.

Okay, thats cool.

Then, they try to get rid of reviews by launching their expansion as a separate game, and do it in the most scumbag way.

So scumbag that they had to go back on it and redesign their expansion concept.

Fast forward to 2016 and they have a new game coming out (actually its just in "pre alpha" state) called Planet Coaster.

You wont find it on Steam, where there are steam reviews or refunds. Go figure.

Anyways, this game costs 30.00 on their website and is a ridiculously simple framework for a future Roller Coaster Tycoon style game. It has really good graphics (as Elite also does), but thats about it.

To get into "Pre Alpha Early Access" you have to buy the "Early Adopter Edition" for a hot 74.99, which again, you cant purchase on steam, because then Frontier would have to deal with deserved mixed reviews again.

I just cant get my brain around how these ♥♥♥♥♥♥ still have a fanbase.

In case you didn't know how it works, when you launch a new add-on or DLC or whatever you want to call it you get a NEW PAGE. That's how it works. Check every single DLC, add-on, whatever and you'll find a new page started for each one. That's how it works. Yes, you can find DLC listed on the main page but when you click on it, you get a NEW PAGE!

Calling anyone an a$$hat that has probably poured thousands of hours into something that a lot of people (obviously not you) enjoy and think is pretty decent for a space sim/flight sim, etc, is kind of an a$$hole move. Utter garbage? No. Not so much. I'm by far not a fanboy of how the next expansion played out with pricing, etc, but I'm not going to pour a lot of discontent into something that isn't going to play out how I want anyway.

We "get it". You obviously don't like the game, etc. You had 2 hours to try it out, play it, whatever, on Steam and then, if you didn't like it, get a total refund. That's an applicable avenue to approach. However, what you're doing just makes you look like a bigger ♥♥♥♥ because of how you approached it. There really is a lot to do in-game for what kind of game it is. It's not a FPS, it's not a strategy game, it's not something that a lot of people get into. That's why the whole space sim/flight sim games don't really get a whole lot of love or development time. It's a niche gaming area.

Also, complaining these developers don't offer their "new" game on Steam is beyond ridiculous. If they did, which you don't obviously approve of anyway, what exactly is that going to do to you, personally? So what if they don't, if they do, whatever. Not every game developer offers their newer, in alpha, games on Steam. PLENTY of developers have their games available for offer only on their website for right now. One that immediately comes to mind was Serpent in the Staglands. It hadn't appeared on GoG or on Steam yet but you could assuredly buy the game on their website and play the alpha, beta, etc. Another game that immediately comes to mind is, guess which one? Elite. It was ONLY available on their website initially. I bought into it when it was. Got to play alpha, beta, etc. Way before it came to Steam. I'm sure at some point their new game will come to Steam in some form or another. They'd be dumb not to offer it just because of the basic publicity it may or may not get.

Also, as a last point, go check out Raven, or whatever they call it now. The newer game from Pirranha Bytes that was a ridiculous fiasco on Steam. While I completely agree with you on what happened with the new expansion and that they could have and should have done it better, in the end, it's not the end of the world. The game has consistently gotten better and better and I don't see them stopping providing a good experience for those that enjoy such an experience. Like anyone else, the developers will probably make mistakes from time to time. They're human. I, personally, like the game. Granted, launching through Steam is a pain in the A$$ sometimes, but sometimes these things happen with the Steam launcher, etc.

Didn't mean to get so wordy, but when I saw your post, while I agreed with you on some points, it doesn't mean you should personally attack someone for the hard work they've poured their life into for years.

Funny how you don't own the game on Steam. If you bought it from FD store, why the hell are you complaining about it here on steam?

Troll.

look, broski, I'm sorry to burst your bubble but your conspiracies are quack.
Let me say one thing real quick that'll boggle your mind: the mixed reviews aren't deserved.
Planet Coaster was a thing a year ago.
A game does not have to be on steam to get good or bad reviews.
They (Frontier) also offer refunds on some of their products.

Elite: Dangerous at kickstarter was explained to be a game cut up into many seasons spanning 10-ish years of active development.
Elite: Dangerous explained that they would be 'seasons' in which if you bought the current season, you'd not have to buy the previous ones (actually a pretty awesome pricing model, if you ask me).
Frontier got numerous complaints about confusion with the games, and how many were buying both Elite: Dangerous, AND Elite: Dangerous Horizons.
Frontier then changed the purchasing model to a more familiar layout, which is what we have now. They did this because they listened to their customers, and they acted on them, giving them what they asked for.
Frontier has released Horizons, which is (programing wise) a HUGE job. And, they aren't even done with the season yet. There will be about 5 times as much content that comes with the season as there is now at the end of the season.

If you want to yell at anyone for giving E:D a new page with no reviews, yell at Steam! It's their problem, not FDevs

Season 1-3 (maybe even 4) are foundation seasons. Marking the areas in which things will be done (such as atmospheric planets, and even life), with more 'structural' updates, such as the basic SRV, and non-atmospheric landings.

I think that FDev doesn't deserve anything less than a "Very Good" review of their game; because that's what we're reviewing, their game.

Now, I feel like the pricing model could get some work, but the pricing has already gone down, as well as changed to what gamers are more familiar with. That's a hell of a lot more than you'll get from ANY other big AAA game company.

Now shut the ♥♥♥♥ up with your worthless piece of ♥♥♥♥ drabble, already!!
I'd say "Don't go full-♥♥♥♥♥♥", but you've already done it anyway.

It's unfortunate that you feel that way regarding Elite Dangerous here on Steam. Now as for your rant on Planet Coaster - that's some interesting claims that you have.

As such, this discussion is not going to go anywhere good. Closing.
