System Jumping in as few jumps as possible. How to do this.
Say I wanted to travel from one system to another which is -very- far away and do this in one jump (or say three at most), what would I need in order to accomplish this? Would I need to have the right kind of ship and outfit with the right kind of frame shift drive and if so, which one would that be?

The single jump distance varies from ship to ship. You can get ships that will jump as far as 20-30Ly in one go. For that single jump range you need the A-rated FSD. If you are however looking to get somewhere 100-150Ly away then it will take more than 1 jump to get there. You can get there let's say in 5-6 jumps but you may have to refuel at some point of your journey unless you fit your ship with enough extra fuel tanks. How far you can travel also depends on whether you calculate your route based on fastest or economical option.

EDIT: forgot to mention that the lighter your ship the further you can jump.

Yes, you need the right ship and right build to be able to do that.

This[coriolis.io] is the best build for such jump. You can see from the graph that the furthest jump you can make is 39.98 Ly unless you use synthesis to increase your jumprange.

Oh Yes, forgot to downgrade the distributor into the negative values.

This looks like a very expensive shuttle :)

Basically, you want the lowest possible Mass with the highest rated FSD with the highest optimal mass value that you can get.

As the others have said, strap the highest FSD you can fit on your ship, D-rate every module and put it to the lowest class you have, and sell all your internal modules (buying a fuel scoop would be a good idea though, highest grade you can afford so you don't have to stop and fuel at stations). The Hauler is an excellent ship for travelling across the bubble cheaply an quickly, stripped down completely it'll do 32 Ly (37 on a low tank), costing just 500,000 Cr if you go for a 2A scoop. Link[coriolis.io]

If you really, really only want to use 3 jumps to cross the bubble though, then if you have Horizons and you're willing to spend a lot of time sourcing the materials for premium boosts, the absolute furthest you can possibly jump in the game at present time is 82.90 Ly (41.45 Ly Anaconda on Premium boosts), that should get you across the bubble in around 3-4 jumps or so. It'll cost you 160 million for the ship, and 1 Arsenic, 3 Niobium (rare), 1 Yttrium (very rare) and 1 Polonium (very rare) per jump though, with the materials possibly taking hours to gather.

Thanks Draco! Some good tips.

set your galaxy map to fastest route,,
Kamiyama Mar 16, 2016 @ 2:31pm
In addition to building a ship with a high jump distance, also make sure that on the galactic map you select the option to plot a route with the shortest number of jumps possible. It defaults to the most economic route possible (fuel wise) which is lots of small jumps.

If you have about 250k it's easy to turn a hauler into a shuttle that can quickly take you around populated space. Just strip off the weapons, strip off the internals, and fit all D rated modules except for the A rated jump drive. It has 33 to 37 light year jump range depending on how much fuel it's carrying.

You guys are awesome. Thanks for all the good advice. I wouldn't have thought of these myself.
