Is Odyssey worth it?

All I have for reference is the negative player reviews and the pretty much universal dislike for it I've seen in Youtube reviews. Nothing that's up to date about it though.

in my opinion no, I put about 70 hours into elite once space legs dropped. And I check back every now and then, but it hasn't changed much.
If your looking for exploration - its meh
looking for ground combat - also meh

overall it doesn't excel in these areas compared to other space games on the market, but its not bad, just meh.

I would say save your money unless there is a sale.

oddy is worth it in a sense at one point oddy will be mandatory and you'll need it anyways so might as well jump in now instead of waiting for it to eventually be free (when the next expansion drops)

Well, yes, obviously. 😄 However, without buying it to try it they'll never truly know if it's worth it to them. hence the query.

It's better to see gameplay examples on YouTube and decide for yourself, than asking people to decide it for you, to be disappointed because people like different things. :)

It's a pointless question, really. Without any knowledge of what the OP likes, there's no real way to answer the question. It's why I usually suggest watching gameplay videos to try and decide if it's the kind of thing you will enjoy.

Personally I think Odyssey is worth it as it's added a lot of new things to the game. Whether or not someone else will agree with me depends on their own personal preference and I can't speak for that.

If you're just starting out I say it's super worth it to get oddy because it gives you a lot of stuff you can do out of your ship to earn cash without actually risking your ship.

If you're an advanced player you've got planetary landings and biology to keep you active+engineering your suit and guns if that fits your fancy

In both cases they are paying attention to what other people are saying. Your initial post was too vague to be of any practical use to anyone.

The point of watching gameplay videos is not to listen to the player's commentary but to see the game itself firsthand. That's what I base my purchases on when I'm on the fence about it. I'll watch 20-30 minutes of gameplay to get a good idea of what the game looks like and what I can expect going in.
