There's no such thing as a one-thousand dollar ship kit, let alone several thousand dollars. If you're going to criticize something, at least get your facts straight.
You can buy 85,000 ARX for 59.99 USD, which is the most expensive option. And the expensive kits are worth what, 13,500 ARX on average?
This would make the average aforementioned kit worth approximately 12 USD. Not "several thousand dollars".
I mistyped, but you failed to comprehend my intention. I meant exactly what you said. 13.5K ARX is "several thousand ARX" . Clearly I didn't mean or say USD $ . No fact checking required here.
Now where were we...?
Yep, this. People who had to scrape together $8 to buy the base game on sale can enjoy Elite as much as a one-percenter with 15 Rolls Royces. But if the latter splashes their cash on ship kits and cosmetics, the kid who used all their pocket money to play still benefits.
Isn't that better than pay to win?
Absolutely. I entirely understand cosmetics as a form of additional funding. I mean that concept has been clear for a long while.
I'm just perhaps salty that the one ship kit I purchased with 3 - 4 options for each if the 4 cosmetic slots works for that ONE ship and that ship only instead of unlocking those same options across the board for all ships. I am still happy with my purchase, because I am probably not trading out this 42+ LY Phantom for anything else in a while but I wish they would have made that clear.
Fair enough.
But if the one ship kit worked on every ship (and bear in mind they're all modelled individually to match the shape of each ship), then the ship kits would cost 37 times as much.
