PS4/5 to Steam Migration Help

Hello my friends!
I see Steam is having a sale for ED and I am just about finished with gathering enough credits on PS5 for my next investment: A trade out of my mining Krait Mk II for a Clipper so that I can get an Exploration Anaconda and a Combat Corvette to seal my three play styles.

Once that's done I will be looking to migrate my account over to PC through the frontier migration services, and I have several questions that I can't seem to find answers for in my research.

Once they delete two erroneous accounts I somehow have with Frontier that each have no commander or ARX data, I will be left with a single account tied to my PSN account.

I see a bunch of answers about migrating from console to PC using EPIC, but absolutely nothing about Steam. So I want to make sure I don't screw this up. What steps do I need to take, in order, to ensure I get my free PC copy of base Elite Dangerous + Horizons on Steam and that my Playstation Commander data is transfered to this steam account?

I dont want FDev to have to delete even more accounts of mine that never got used, so I'd like to do this right the first time.

Its also on sale at frontiers own shop. Buying the game there it wouldn't be linked to steam and you would avoid occasional issues with the authentication server which is the reason i'm telling you this.

Back in 2016 i got a free steam key with the purchase through frontierstore.net so i could link it with steam but not being forced to have steam running.
Curious if you still get that steam key with a purchase so no guarantee its still included.

No, you don't get the key for purchases after April 2019. After that date the game is sold on Steam as a non-key version.

Purchases before that date still have keys available.

Elite is currently listed at £5.00

I may be biased but for the price/hour it's a borderline steal.
(as you have it on console you will only have to buy Odyssey AFAIK)


I can only recommend buying directly from frontier as it sidesteps any and all steam authentication issues. I've had my install bork out once since 2016 requiring a reinstall.
