no and unlikely not, the devs said they have no plans on adding them.

Around the ship yes, inside the ship no

No, and FDevs said that they are not going to work on it.

You can walk around inside a fleet carrier right now. You don't even have to own one - just land at somebody else's. Let's see if you will want to do it again, after going through the same interior for a hundredth time.

So, one will be having fun for an hour by shooting at enemy ships, and another one will be replacing leaking pipes and tightening bolts and screws for that hour? Do you really believe that people who come to play this game will have a lot of fun by playing a pipe fixer instead of shooting targets from their own ships?

That's why plans change during the development time. Because some plans get more thoughts and developers see that those plans are a bad idea.

to run throughout it during critical combat.
The last thing you want to do during critical combat is to run through your ship to where you needed to be already half a minute ago.

huge space stations full of life
Already is in the game. Already looks mundane.

While I like the initial idea, I have to agree that the game took a different direction and it wouldn´t really make sense with what we have today.

As Dolphin Bottlenose pointed out, you can walk around a fleet carrier, and it pretty mutch scratches that itch for me. A home away from home to stretch my digital legs when I´m out exploring. I really enjoy it. (Yes I know I´m the minority here:spiffo:)
Jumped to a planet circling a gas giant yesterday, and the view from my bridge was gorgeous. If anything, they should expand on that instead of individual interioirs.

It hasn't really utility. It's a feature of SC another game in EA but for gameplay it's pretty useless.

"But even dissregarding that, FDEV promised it in the kickstarter and thus they should be obliged to implement it."
AFAIK Most of those games never ever got beyond the EA -and/or- kickstarter phase so those early adopters of ED already got far more then their money's worth !

Ask again when the engine can handle the Frontlines Solutions landing sequence.

FDEV lied and they will never fullfill their kickstarter promises that were essential to making this game possible.

When you pay for a game you buy the product available at that time. If the product doesn't have the features you expected, don't buy it.

There's a big difference between a product page for a game which says it contains 'x' (and it doesn't) and a kickstarter 'imagine if we could ...' video years before the game even launches.

This 👆

Yet somehow those became ironclad promises... 😂

Just because they don't have a legal obligation to do something doesn't mean it's fine to not deliver on what you promised, and it wasn't "imagine if we could" just go read their faq that is to date still online on their kickstarter page

"Yes, but not in the initial release. The core release of the game focusses on the ships and space. We'll then be working to expand the game. This includes exploring your ship and space stations."

It is never acceptable to fundraise based on lies.

edit: But i agree, it was a mistake to pledge on the kickstarter, if i had known that they'd abandon everything with the garbage that is Odyssey i would have never done so, sadly that was a decade ago.

Who says it won't be in the next DLC? They didn't put a date on it.

Because they have made it explicit that they are no longer interested in it, they have confirmed it a couple years ago.
Not to mention they don't seem to have any plan for a new expansion at this point.

You can if you play in VR. Though I have to say that's more of a "hack" of sorts and not an ingame mechanic.

I've watched every Livestream and read every news release for the game since before Odyssey launched.

They said there are currently no plans for ship interiors. They also said there are currently no plans for VR on foot. They did not say they aren't interested and they did not rule it out until the end of time.

In addition, one of the CMs pointed out that simply walking back and forth in a ship is not gameplay and would quickly get boring. A large number of ED players concur.

AFTER the CM said that, we got fleet carrier interiors, and while they were exciting for a couple of weeks they DID get boring fast.

However, unlike ship interiors, carrier interiors serve a function: you can meet your team on a carrier, board a single ship together, etc. But until we get a mission board on the carrier, they're never going to be used to their full extent.
