You can walk around inside a fleet carrier right now. You don't even have to own one - just land at somebody else's. Let's see if you will want to do it again, after going through the same interior for a hundredth time.
That's why plans change during the development time. Because some plans get more thoughts and developers see that those plans are a bad idea.
The last thing you want to do during critical combat is to run through your ship to where you needed to be already half a minute ago.
Already is in the game. Already looks mundane.
As Dolphin Bottlenose pointed out, you can walk around a fleet carrier, and it pretty mutch scratches that itch for me. A home away from home to stretch my digital legs when I´m out exploring. I really enjoy it. (Yes I know I´m the minority here
Jumped to a planet circling a gas giant yesterday, and the view from my bridge was gorgeous. If anything, they should expand on that instead of individual interioirs.
AFAIK Most of those games never ever got beyond the EA -and/or- kickstarter phase so those early adopters of ED already got far more then their money's worth !
When you pay for a game you buy the product available at that time. If the product doesn't have the features you expected, don't buy it.
There's a big difference between a product page for a game which says it contains 'x' (and it doesn't) and a kickstarter 'imagine if we could ...' video years before the game even launches.

Yet somehow those became ironclad promises... 😂
"Yes, but not in the initial release. The core release of the game focusses on the ships and space. We'll then be working to expand the game. This includes exploring your ship and space stations."
It is never acceptable to fundraise based on lies.
edit: But i agree, it was a mistake to pledge on the kickstarter, if i had known that they'd abandon everything with the garbage that is Odyssey i would have never done so, sadly that was a decade ago.
Who says it won't be in the next DLC? They didn't put a date on it.
Not to mention they don't seem to have any plan for a new expansion at this point.
I've watched every Livestream and read every news release for the game since before Odyssey launched.
They said there are currently no plans for ship interiors. They also said there are currently no plans for VR on foot. They did not say they aren't interested and they did not rule it out until the end of time.
In addition, one of the CMs pointed out that simply walking back and forth in a ship is not gameplay and would quickly get boring. A large number of ED players concur.
AFTER the CM said that, we got fleet carrier interiors, and while they were exciting for a couple of weeks they DID get boring fast.
However, unlike ship interiors, carrier interiors serve a function: you can meet your team on a carrier, board a single ship together, etc. But until we get a mission board on the carrier, they're never going to be used to their full extent.
