Server Offline
How long does it usually take when they are at maintenance and how often does this happen?
I have spare time and just started playing (again) some days ago and now that happens.
Yesterday I updated to odissey and now I have time but the servers are at maintenance.

So just using this spare time to ask, so we know it for now and for the future at how long it approximately takes.

Servers always go down for a few hours when the game has a mainline update.

Apparently servers will return at 16:00 BST, which is like 4-5 hours from now.

The amount of time servers are down is usually different per update, but they usually announce what time servers will return shortly before and during update deployment.

Thursday is the regular maintenance day (20-30 mins)

Today is major patch day, hence the much longer downtime.

Thank you, that is very helpful → Down for a good reason - unfortunately always (for someone at least) in the wrong moment.
Happy gaming later then, and please have mercy with the greenhorns in the sky :-)

BST = British summer time

Just using a well known standard timezone, like UTC for example, would be way too easy and way too user friendly. Thus developers tend to use some strange timezones, only people of their own country ever heard of. And just to make it worse: BST isn't even a proper timezone, it's an offset. *head -> desk -> repeat*

regarding BST, While we are at it, how can I change that time in-game?

You can't - it's permanently in UTC.

The game's clock is based on where the server is located because it doesn't matter what the local time is for each player. If you look at the in-game clock and it says 2pm, it's 2pm for literally every other Commander, regardless of what part of the world they live in or if they're playing Public, Private or Solo. If you want to know the local time, you can look at your wrist, the wall, your phone, the TV or ask ya momma because it doesn't matter to anyone but you. That makes it easy for everyone. Same goes for Maintenance. The developers go by their time because they're the ones tinkering and we're the ones waiting. In both cases, they trust that we have the God-given common sense to open a web browser and look up "1800 BST to UTC (or whatever timezone we're in)" and go from there.

there are many options in this game. it is possible to add or subtract hours so it matches our local time.
You do not have to take sides and find an excuse.
i just asked and when you reason it does not make sense.

the same way they could say any keybinds are set and final and its awesome as it is.
but many change their bindings and a clock that gets some hours added is not some rocket science.

p.s.: dolphin bottlenose already answered that question perfect - no need for more explanation, but well, if you feel offended by that question I guess there was written much about that "decision" already. so let us not discuss that further. ther eis an optin to hide that time from the main hud.

Ingame - Options - Network - Network Adapter <- make sure it is correct.
