I suspect that your opponent was flying a Fer-de-Lance (FDL). Those ships are popular with those who fight against other players. A so-called "meta".
As about weapons - there might be many variations. Some weapons cause massive damage, but need skills to use. Say, it could be a flak cannon. Or plasma accelerators (plasma ignores a lot of your shields resistance, if you use resistance boosters). It could be reverberating cascade engineered weapons that destroy your shields generator directly, passing through shields.
It's hard to say what exactly has happened to you, because there are various tactics to attack other players. I am not very skilled in PvP matters. There are Commanders who know it much better. I only know it from the receiving side. :)
Just keep in mind that your ship is vulnerable to other players. They can take you down even in the Corvette.
And, of course, always remember the rule #1: never fly without a rebuy!
no idea what kind of shield you had, but either you have little to no resistance without pips, or you got cascaded.
if you submited, your fsd take about 10 sec to reload, another 10-15 for high wake, and a reboot if you got unlucky.
having a top notch engineered ship does not mean invulnerability, but i'll concede it create a gap between a ship ready and skill required to win a dogfight.
you likely were flying a pve fited vette and got dicted by a ganker. likely a FDL or a well geared krait II
(edsy also works but it might be a bit harder to use)

This is a different take with all beam lasers:

If you install EDDiscovery you can also review your logs to see who attacked you.
Hi, thanks for the help.
Here's my build: https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/257216/4023908/
It's definitely a PvE one, I just didn't expect to be destroyed so fast!
I got the guy's name in the Comms panel.
Honestly, your ship has like, 1000 Base Shield HP, which is basically nothing. 10 seconds to take out this shield is actually more than the time i would expect for a pvp ship attacking you.
From what i can see, you can take 1951 kinetic damage,2341 thermal damage or 4985 explosive damage assuming 2 pips on sys(Shields).I know you are using Bi-weave but cmon.. it could be a lot more than that =)
For comparison, my PVE cutter that i use for npc bounty has 6265 base shield HP and can take 18.741 kinetic, 18.327 thermal or 22.490 explosive assuming 2 pips on sys(Shields).
With all that said, your ship is nowhere close to an optimal ship even for a pve combat zone(maybe REsource extraction zones?).
On top of all that, you onlyt have 2000 Hull hp, which is kinda low for a vette maybe?
My cutter has 4974 and its no even my main focus on defense.
Hope i helped with your questions and why you got destroyed so fast =)
My Cutter Build on EDSY for comparsion(Note that im not even using prismatic, which would increse shield hp even more)

Mine is defintely PvE fitted, here's the build: https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/257216/4023908/
I realize it can be improved even for PvE, I just got to other things. I also have a fighter crewed by an experienced (and expensive !) NPC, which got vaporized just as fast.
I don't know what a "ganker" is, but wasn't an FDL or a Krait (I have one) A Mamba perhaps ?
I got attacked a second time yesterday by a similar guy, this time I was in my Krait MKII and I tried to study the interaction (which I escaped unscathed) a bit more:
- Both times, I got attacked in the last phase of approach to my base in Sol (Daedalus), within the 6-second blue-zone low speed phase
- I got yanked out of hyperspace regardless of what I did: even if I kept all the time in the circle, it was useless. As an aside, I'd love to know how to do that !
- I escaped by scrambling away at max speed (I was faster than him), then at 6-8km away jumping back to supercruise as soon as feasible.
- He almost immediately pulled me out again every time - how is this even possible ?! It repeated 4 or 5 times, until I finally lost him at like 2 Ls from the station.
Thanks for giving some attention to this, appreciate it.

- First, why you have blast Resistant boosters of all things? Shields already have huge explo resist, no one in their right mind will try to break shields with explo damage and thanks to softcap you gain nearly nothing anyway! Change them to Heavy Duty asap. Or Resistance Augmented.
- If you're afraid of missiles, spread point defenses so they cover different areas of the ship. Check here: <http://a.teall.info/edsa/?s=federal-corvette>. Move one PDT to either slot 1/2 to cover the back still, or 3/4 to cover the front.
- Empty utility slot. Even if you have low power, you can gain some extra by lowering priority of cargo hatch. Or just install E grade shield booster, it still can give full resists from Resistance Augmented.
- Speaking of power, consider using Monstered reactor. Thermal spread effect is marginal anyway.
- Empty size 6 internal. Move your Fighter hangar here and upgrade to size 6. Freed size 5 slot can be filled with HRP, or you can put guardian FSD there, freeing size 4 slot for HRP
- Consider installing Reactive Surface Composite (can be Lightweight if you want) and replacing Supercruise Assist with size 1 HRP modded for Thermal Resistant, Reflective Plating. This will give you excellent resists.
- If you're bounty hunting, Fast Scan on Wake Scanner should be as, if not more, helpful. Also helps choosing that Fast Scan is less power hungry.
- Life Support must be 5D or 5A. 5D if you want to save weight, 5A if you want to just stop caring abt the air.
- Minor one: FSD is better to improve with Mass Manager effect, except on smallest ships.
Now, the most subjective: weapons. In huge and large points you should should have either strongest lasers (Overcharged beam), or overcharged multicannons (Incendiary for thermal damage, Oversized if you deal damage elsewise); those are slots that deal the most damage. Medium ones have great FoV, they can be support multicannons (can be turrets even, they aren't naming dps source) – but you only need ONE corrosive, as multiple corrosive dont stack. Other one can be, say, Emissive Munitions. Size 1 can be whatever but I feel this is a good slot for railguns.
Here's an example of the quickly improved build: https://edsy.org/#/L=Hz8Wb7QI0H4C0S30,HhRH0BM_W0HhRH0BM_W0EkhH09P_W0Hf6H05K_W0Hf6H05I_W0KYiH07I_W0KYiH07I_W0,CzYG07G_W0CEgG12G_W0DwoH13G_W0DhAH13G_W0DBwH15L_W0DBwH15L_W0DCYH09K_W0CzYG17G_W0,9opH09I_W0ADIH13I_W0ARMG15I_W0AfQI15H_W0Au6G13G_W0BBoH13L_W0BRkH17G_W0Bcg11,16yH15I_W07yT01,7WCG19I_W00Bk110Bk111tO105VkJ03G_W034a201Le1115OG05I_W04_w416BUH02m_W010iI0BK_W0,Argo_0VIII_0_D_0MKII,ERP_D08
Ok, thanks for taking the time. I'll try your build in everything but the hardpoints - I'll keep my stuff as it is but engineered per your specs! Can't give up supercruise assist though, it's one my time-saving perks in long transits. I can get rid of the kill warrant scanner instead, never saw a revenue difference with it anyway.
I'll be back here to let you guys know how it went...
It can earn millions during each session if the pirate has bounties elsewhere. I put it on the same firegroup as my lasers, so it quick-scans the target automatically.
When you go to turn in bounties, you'll see the big main one and dozens of smaller amounts - those are from the KWS
Ok, I'll readily admit that my build is lame even for PvE, but first I'm not comfortable comparing the vette to a cutter (which I don't know at all), and second I'm not ready to fill ALL my utility slots with boosters and practically all the available slots with hull reinforcements, to the exception of everything else. No wonder you have a bit more resistance than average ;-D I think I'll stick to something more... conventional ?
Your hardpoint loadout is interesting, although. it would oblige me to reverse my order as I put the beams first and the cannons second. I Suppose you eat the shields with the beams, then finish the rest with the cannons ?
Thanks for the ideas and suggestions anyway.
For a combat ship, filling all the slots with things like HRP & boosters pretty much IS conventional. ;-)
Yep, this is the idea. Multi-role ships tend to be average at everything, and it's better to have a set of specialised ships instead.
