2nd sucks with the silent running.
3rd, you can target specific bio signals from orbit in the surface scanner interface. I believe the default keys are q and e to switch signals. Has helped me with tough flora in the past.
I can picture the hapless pilot, everything goes wrong. Nobody will ride with him, mechanics avoid his ship, everyone avoids him in the concourse.
He is the Wile E. Coyote of space, and his ship if full of replacement parts he ordered from the Acme corporation.
As he passes you in an yet another uncontrolled descent to certain destruction, you see him holding up a white placard sign with one simple word...HELP
Can't wait to run across him in space....
Fun Fact: There is a movie being developed titled "Coyote vs. ACME", starring John Cena and Will Forte, directed by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy 2)
Movie premise-After all of the ACME Corporation's products backfired on Wile E. Coyote, in his pursuit of the Road Runner, he hires an equally-unlucky human attorney to sue the company. When Wile E.'s lawyer finds out that his former law firm's intimidating boss is ACME's CEO, he teams up with the coyote to win the court case against him.
I have no clue
I was surprised as everyone else. Just accident prone in this game. I used to smuggle illegal cargo, but now I just deep six it if it says "illegal cargo" in the ship for fear of getting shot down.
I'm just wondering what's gonna take me out next that I haven't experienced yet...
High gravity planet, forgetting to throttle down when you jump to another system and crashing into a star (what I like to call the "Icarus manoeuvre"), white dwarf or neutron star mishap... there's all kinds of ways to die in Elite, really. Probably tons that you haven't experienced yet.
