Didn't start in the starter zone?
Just realized I started around 30+ jumps away from the starting area

Starter area is only for new gamers and after you left it, you can´t return. :MHRISE_NG:

No, I created a new character, did the opening mission where you are on the planet and then the guy gave me a ride to some base on a planet. I never got the "welcome to the galaxy" mission either so I was kinda dropped in with no idea what to do.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

You can probably go into the starter area with a new Ody character if you haven't levelled up yet. Just do the flight tutorial, get your sidewinder and off you go.

Edit: 30 jumps, eek.

Forget the starter zone, stay in the system you have spawned and just play in Solo or Private Group.

The stations in the "Pilots Federations District" have a very limited selection of ship weapons.
Most of those weapons are fixed, and fixed weapons are very hard to use for new players.

Also the planets and moons in the starter zone haven't much Odyssey content.
Easy missions like delivering parcels or salvaging stuff from crashed ships are not present in the mission boards of the old starter district, only sabotage and theft missions to settlements outside the starter district.

So even before Odyssey the starter zone was bad because players can't get the easy to use gimballed weapons for their ships, and after Odyssey most of the new content isn't there.
Even in the system designated for combat are only space conflict zones aviable and no ground conflict zones for Frontline Solutions.

If you want to travel go to the system Pa Kazahuan and the starport McCandless Ring.

The starport is under Anarchy control, and you can sell there all kind of stolen stuff, buy e-breaches and even clear bounties at an interstellar factor.

Doesn't the Odyssey intro take you somewhere outside the starter zones anyway? Then it returns you to the starter zone once you've finished the Ody intro tasks... That's what happened for my alt when I bought Odyssey on there...

Nevermind... That was a total brainfart...

My alt had already been locked out of the newbie area for a couple of months when I bought Ody on that account... So it can't be what happened... :steamfacepalm:

If you've played the game before the Ody tutorial puts you back where you were afterwards. If you've never played before it leaves you at Chamberlain's Rest, I believe?

Some new players start with Horizons, do the ship tutorial, then log into Odyssey.

It does take you to the edge of the 'bubble' to a planetary port, where you can take on some odyssey missions. At this point you got 250000 credits to spend on a suit and a gun. There's also your Sidewinder waiting in the shipyard so you can board it at your leisure and undertake the flight tutorial. This will take you to two or three systems within newbie zone but upon finishing it you'll be back whre odyssey tutorial brought you. You even get a paintjob for that ship. When I was done with both tutorials I was doing whatever I saw fit in that area of space and I've never wanted to go to the 'starter area'.

If someone really needs to call an alternate scenario a bug, then of course, it's a bug. To me, it was a surprise but I don't feel as if I've missed out on something, because some nice people on here said there aren't any newbie-specific missions.

IMHO it's not a bug, I guess the team that made Odyssey didn't know about the old Horizions starter zone or it was too expensive to add Odyssey content to the Pilots Federation district.
