Need some tips on how not to burnout in elite
So i am a huge space game nerd and play both star citizen and elite. problem i have with elite is while I like the game the engineer grind and the grind for the guardian equipment keeps causing me to burn out and not return for a few months. anyone have tips for dealing with the grind and by extension burnout. The new update has me motivated to continue since its been a few months since i was last on.

For me it was not focusing on those tasks, but just playing the game as is, picking up stuff as it goes, and engineering this or that module when I have collected enough. In other words: don't grind, just play and have fun.

I picked an NPC faction in a system where there were no player factions, and helped them take over 16-17 systems. That leads to a huge range of missions I wouldn't normally do, lots of plotting and planning, and obviously wars as well.

Find a friend.
find a group of friends
Join a squad which you could find sum friends
or
buy a second account and use that to do other things

those pesky sentinals dpends where you are grinding "eg: fighter's " i took a python down there and just let the ship do the work then picked up what i needed with the SRV

other option is watch a tv series at the same time.

the only other option i can suggest is wisdom. " Know your Limits "

From your part or the devs? Your part? Easy. Don't overplay.
Theirs? Less senseless grindig to make the game harder, which in reality
only turns it to soul killing boredom. And more content to heed this issue.
Solar system scannig is a nice mini game for example.

Don't get overwhelmed by chasing too much at once. The Guardian stuff, I enjoyed but did take several trips to do them all and interspersed with other tasks.

Also, it's much easier to do all that if you have a carrier so that you always have the right ship for the right job, cargo safe from pirates and you can park up and take your time with it rather than a lot of travelling back and forth in your ship.

When you log on, choose to do the most fun activity. For me, it's always been combat. Yes, progress might be slower, but at least the game is FUN. It is a GAME after all.

Just play the game and don't focus on min/maxing. I often travel around to different areas and I've noticed that the missions can have some variety where I was expecting it to be the same. If I kept playing the same missions over and over from the same station, it would be the same. So you have to move.

Do things that people are saying suck and take on the challenge of making it not suck. For me, this has been bacterium scanning.

Check out the Tourist settlements. There's a reason, it's a tourist settlement, but you have to drive or walk around to find out why it's a tourist area. If you just go in, blow somebody away for Ion Gas, then you don't get to see the mission.

Join a Powerplay group and get on their discord. I think Powerplay is the best end-game option, it puts you in direct competition with other players groups and the amount of PVP you engage in can be managed. I wish they'd do more with Powerplay TBH, all kinds of potential there. I'm hoping Powerplay is the secret feature they said they are going to revamp in Q1.

Goals are good - lots and lots of different goals allows you to jump from one to the other depending on what mood your in.
But remember - goals are a means to an end....Fun!

I've had some fun Trading - I've had some fun Outfitting ships - I've made plenty of money...
...Then I've thrown alot of that money at alot of rebuys!
Don't be afraid to switch up your play style, credits are easy to come by o7

grind is of course exhausting, however when youre done with it, and have gathered more money then you can spend it gets really really boring. When youre done with the grind you realize that there is nothing interesting left to do. I find myself only bounty hunting pirates. That gets boring after a while, but the worst thing is that any other activity is even less motivating. So to sum it up. The whole gameplay is all about grind. Once youre done with it, youre done with the game.

Find some gameplay you can enjoy in short sessions. Personally, I like passenger transport as a means of collecting credits and also some grade 5 engineering components, sometimes mining, and hitting signals to salvage engineering components.

If you make your entire gameplay about getting from where you are directly to a fully engineered endgame hanger on your own personal carrier, it's going to take a pretty serious toll on your enthusiasm unless these things in and of themselves are a wellspring of enjoyment for you. Even if they are, it can take awhile to earn them yourself, and while it may be possible to earn loads of credits quickly in groups, finding people to work with and coordinating all that is it's own kind of grind.

Just play and explore the game at your own pace would be my advice, but it helps me to just focus on one activity type at a time.

Maybe try finding a predatory player-run pirate clan which owns a system... and undermine their rule over that system.
