Maverick Suit: Sometimes the tools don't work
I've noticed an issue with the Maverick suit that will happen intermittently. When it comes time to use the any device: charger, handheld welder, or the identity scanner, they won't activate or work. Only thing that will work are the shields, but that doesn't really help. I've setup keyboard mappings, thinking the controllers were messed up, but the keyboard mappings don't work either.

The only way I've found to resolve the issue is if I enter my space ship, the SRV, or exit/re-enter the game. If I call an Apex shuttle, enter it, then get out, it still doesn't work.

Is there some lock or key combo that will stop the utilities (charger, welder, ID scanner) from activating?

How much power do you have left?

The overload tool won't work unless you have more than 20%, for example.

I think you don't understand. I can't bring any of these devices to appear on the screen. I click the button to bring up the welder, the charger, or identity scan. None will show up. Only the shield. Basically, if I were in a situation where I needed a free charge, I wouldn't get it because I can't bring up the charger. Only way around the issue is if I can get in the SRV or my space ship or exit/enter the game again. It doesn't happen often but when it does, there isn't anything to explain why they're no longer available.

Hmm. That sounds like a keybind issue, a location issue or the wrong suit.

Have you accidentally set the keys to (hold) mode, where you have then then hold them down for 2-3 seconds to activate?

No I'm in the right suit, it just quits. The hold wouldn't be set. I've set my own custom settings so they don't get erased during updates. For example, today I played the game for quite a few hours and the issue only occurred once.

In my case, I sprint and bunny hop with weapons holstered, and occasionally it will not let me sprint after a while for some reason even though I am not fatigued. If I pull out a weapon it will instantly fire on its own, sometimes more than once. If it prevents me from sprinting, I can click once and that seems to clear whatever inputs it thinks I'm trying to do and it will let me sprint again. So it seems to think I am taking an action that prevents sprinting even though I did not press anything other than the sprint button. Not sure if your case is something similar. All I can think of is that it thinks you are inputting something that prevents use of tools. Maybe an input readout would show if that is the case or not.

Today I had something similar albeit in my ship, meaning that I could not accelerate nor turn using my keyboard, but mouse worked. I turned keyboard off and on thinking it didn't work, hit the Windows button - start menu appeared, but alt-tabbed back to the game which still didn't react to any keyboard presses. I started hitting buttons until I pressed ENTER that posted bunch of letters to the screen. Apparently I had comms dialog open, but I didn't see it. How'd that happen I don't know.

So next time see if the issue will go away if you press the key responsible for chat.

I also experience this on-foot, quite frequently evere since I changed mouse to the new Logitech G502 X. Game thinks I hold LMB. Previously I used plain wireless mouse, Logitech Marathon, nothing of the sort happened.

I'm using the same mouse since Odyssey release, but I have only noticed the problem since sometime earlier this year. Something in one of the patches unfixed it I think.

What mouse are you using then? Just for reference.

I've done this thousands of times, in every game I've played that had a text chat function... :steamfacepalm:

Save any custom profiles to your mouse. And then...

UNINSTALL ALL LOGITECH SOFTWARE.
(keep the installers handy in case you need to change anything later).

There was a Logitech update months ago that's been causing problems for some people (I've seen a ton of complaints about it, plus I use a G502 Hero and an ErgoM575 myself). Logitech are aware of the issue, but it's been over 6 months and no fix... Yet.

This applies to the GHUB, and the new LogiBolt applications. Especially if you use both (which I'm guessing you do?). Even with both apps blocked from startup, I was getting horrible hitching in loads of games until I uninstalled it.

From what I can remember the older "Logioptions" application (which logibolt has since replaced) didn't have the problem. But that was pointless for most people to use anyway, as it's not needed to connect use or configure anything. Just a sloppy gui giving access to basic mouse settings...

Also, if you're using the bluetooth dongle that came with the wireless mouse, plug it into a USB extension lead and move it away from the PC... Put it as close to where you use the mouse as you can. Sometimes it's not the software screwing up, but wifi interference making things go screwy. And don't use the USB pass through ports on your keyboard or monitor if you have them. While they may work, they may also cause lag or interference themselves.

that's why it's called a Maverick suit!

I use a combination of HOTAS, Xbox One controller, and mouse/keyboard in the game. Originally, since I use the Xbox controller on foot, I thought its game pad was sticking. But I mapped the welder, charger, and scan identifier to the keyboard and the keys didn't work (except for Shields). I even changed to an all keyboard/mouse control option and it didn't change anytihng.

I think what they need is to have an option in that lower-left menu where you can select the function you need it to do, when the keys aren't working.

For instance, in the SRV, when it came time to scoop something up, the damn cursor would not target what I needed to scoop up. It was frustrating running around and trying to adjust to it. But then I figured out I can go to the left hand menu and just select it there and then it's targeted automatically.

They need a similar option for the on foot tools, or at least it would help me with not having to restart a mission or reload. The game is already time-consuming enough without these glitches.
