Hyperspace jump into a star - glitch
Hi everyone! Anyone else run into a system where there are multiple stars and when hyperspace jumping into the system, you naturally land in front of one - into a space which is occupied by one of the secondary stars?
When it happened to me (needless to say, 22 kly from Sol with weeks of exploration data) I thought it was only a visual glitch until the temperature started rising by 5% a second, even though the fuel scoop didn't activate. It was Fortuna's kiss I wasn't thrown out of hyperspace and managed to escape with temp at 120% maximum with only 1% damage to a few modules. I shudder to think what would've happened if I wasn't flying an Asp Explorer (one that doesn't even run 25% on ambient, doesn't break 60 when charging FSD and can full-speed-scoop a star at high 60s) or if it wasn't a G-class (I think) star but a White dwarf or a neutron star.

The system in question is DUMBAE RD-R D5-830. It's above the straight path to the core around Y:800. Avoid it like the plague. Also if devs see this, would it be possible to fix hyperspace jump so you land at a point NOT occupied by a star?

I hit 150% heat once, but only 1% damage. I have a heatsink but was not able to activate it during hyperspace jump countdown.

And that is why you throttle down on hyperjump.
That is why you carry an AFMU exploring.
120% temp is peanuts, let us know when you reach 300-500%, that is going to be noteworthy.

Basically you land a set distance from the main star (thats how the drive works).... if that happens to be in another star.... oooops

Happened to me the other day, flew straight through a T-Tauri and ended up sat in a tiny little safe (but extremely hot) zone between two stars 6Ls apart... Didn't actually drop me out of cruise and I didn't realise what had happened until sparks and smoke started flying out of the dashboard.

Doesn't help in this situation. Throttling down only stops you from flying face first into the main swquence star. It doesn't stop you from flying through a nearby orbitting star.

And remove the most dangerous aspect of exploring? Where's the fun in that? :steammocking:

Has happened to me a few times, mainly with an M-type star being the secondary that I land inside of, but it also happened with a K-type star (escaped with 95% heat, and happened on the first day of a 6+ months long exploration trip). It's a pretty rare occurence though, happening maybe once per 4000 jumps on average, so no need to worry a lot about it. As of recently, I've been trying to avoid these systems like the plague by checking the system layout (realistic view and select the star, should show an approximate distribution of stars in the system) of every binary system consisting of large stars.

I want to fly through a O type star, would be amazing.

Unfortunately it's not a glitch!

happened to first day I was playing around the starting system! I've also seen NAV beacons located inside the corona, which means getting to it is impossible because you get dropped out of SC before you get to it.

I know both (I doubt any who don't could make it for 22 kly). Also, you probably couldn't reach 300 only if you tried your hardest (like silent running for mins or repeatedly bumping into a neutron star)
Here's a screenshot of the system in question, it's quite beautiful until it tries to kill you: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=721937568
