TH8A Shifter

I play racing and driving games and I recently bought the Thrustmaster TH8A shifter. Playing Elite, I realize that the shifter brings 8 more buttons to the controls.

I know some folks use steering wheels with the rover in Horizons, but I don't want to do that. I'm happy enough with my joystick to play Elite, the Thrustmaster HOTAS-X.

But I am thinking about those extra 8 buttons. I am wondering what I should bind them to. The rover has a CVT, so no gears to shift. I was thinking weapons bindings, but all my weapons are beams on one group. Same for chaff and shield boosters, but I sold them to make room for the rover.

Anyone use this shifter in-game? Maybe I will bind to the frame shift drive, and I will have a hyperspace lever like out of Spaceballs.
