Need Advice on getting home...
So I outfitted a non-engineered Diamondback Explorer and traveled all the way from SOL to Sagittarius A. Once I finished marveling at my accomplishment I headed to the nearest station which is Explorer's Anchorage in Stuemeae FG-Y d7561 and sold all my data (which was allot... Yay for me \o/). However I now realize I have to travel all the way back to SOL with a limited jump range of about 40LY per jump and really don't want to do the long trip back.

Any suggestions on fastest way to get back home? I heard self destructing is an option. Thoughts?

PS: For those who will say things like "You should have engineered that ship" please save it... I know lol. I'm relatively new and still know very little about engineering. But thanks :)

Self destruct. If possible, buy a sidewinder and blow it up and have your DBX shipped back. Depending on funds of course. You could also neutron boost back.

If you self destruct, won’t you respawn at the last port you docked?

I think you have to fly it. Neutron highway is probably your best bet.

Only if you want your current ship back. Unless something changed. I haven't used self destruct in quite some time.

Head to Colonia. Upgrade your ship; use the engineers there.

Unfortunately the stations closest to Sag don't have shipyards so I think heading to Colonia is my best bet. Thanks a bunch guys. This gives me hope :)

Self destruct and spawn in a sidewinder, you will lose your current ship but money is easy to come by and it isn't engineered so no big loss.

The colonia engineeres will be locked for you as you need to use the first ones in the bubble and meet some other requirements, and the neutron highway will still take ages and will kill you anyway if you don't have an AFMU

If you do go the self destruct route you could sell your ship first and buy a sidewinder, and only lose 1k cr

I will need to go to colonia to buy a sidewinder. I don't want to self destruct my DBX. It's earned a cushy ride home via a ship freighter lol

Shouldn't he be able to self destruct and choose his original sidewinder back in the bubble? That's how it used to work.
EDIT: Turn in your cartographic data first.

scratch that. Colonia is 11kLY away :(

I can't believe the nearest station to sell ships is still 11K away from Sag-A. If I travel that far I might as well just keep going. UGH!!!

Will self destruct really put me at my station of choice?

It will put you back in a Sidewinder in whichever system you started the game at, unless you have any other ships stored in the Bubble.

I haven't tried but I doubt it drops you back in the newbie zone.

Hmm, I hadn't thought about that. At a guess then, It'll probably drop you at the station you arrive at when you complete the mission to leave the newbie zone, but it is just a guess, so maybe not worth the risk.

OK I stripped my outfitted DBX, flew away from the station and self destructed back home. Now to rebuild the ship :P
