ASP Explorer Vs. Diamondback Explorer?

Whats your prefences and why?

My current loadout is a Diamondback Explorer.

Asp explorer can carry anything, and I mean *anything* you would ever need for a trip, no matter how long or how far. Diamondbacks are too tiny and heavy for me to really see a point to them besides them being cheap as explorers.

Big difference in price between the Aspx and the DBE. I've never actually flown a DBE... Never really saw the point, but I do like the DBS...

The Aspx is in a class of it's own. Probably the best exploration ship, even though it doesn't have quite the same jump range as an Anaconda.

Have Flown every ship in the game , The Asp Explorer is the most versatile. I have one pimped up as an armed trader, with 40 ly jump range which i spend most of the game in.

Frame shift drive range increase mod level 5, Overpower chargerd engine plant level 4 and i cant remember what i did with the power disributer level 3 something . Light armour mod 3 on Military armour. Have 88 tons of cargo space and maxed out mine launches.

Dbx is a very nice ship.

I've only flown it in combat though. But if you haven't got horizons or don't want to land on planets then it's a decent first expidition choice.

The problem with horizons is that if you want to land on planets it reduces your low end ships option a too much. So it basically nerfed the dbx.

But it's still fun to fly. And if you are after say a trip to Orion then why wait till you've got the creds for the aspx? If you can buy the dbx and want to see some sights I say do it!

Asp X, because more internal space and higher jump range.

I pimped mine, too recently for 47ly unladen and 38ly laden jump range.

I like the DBS. It's a cheap, combat ready ship with nice jump range. I mostly see it as military recon vessel or small transport for a troop of marines (I hope that will come some day)

My group of friends affectionately refer to the DBX as the Diamondback Exploder.

Needless to say, our preferences lie with the Asp - it's beefier, it has more hardpoints and it's pretty useful for basically any fitout if you don't want to/can't afford to fly a superheavy

I sold my AspX once as needed the credits, but then soon realised my mistake and bought it back again. Really to have a decent fitted one you need at least 18 mil.
Best multi-role ship apart from combat especially for rares and long-distance trading/smuggling.

I once used a DBX to transport myself to the other side of the bubble once. Has a good jump range.

I've done this more times than I can remember. Done it with my Vulture too. Of all my ships the AspX and the Vulture are never being sold again...

Now I'm like an old rich dude with a collection of all his toys... Although I have just sold my Python and FDL again to buy another Conda, I was missing that monster. Spent all day in it yesterday ferrying food for the Akimbo (or whatever it's called) community goal, before jumping in a DBS with rail guns for a bit of mindless slaughter in a system my faction is expanding into xD

Personally though, if I was tight on credits I'd rather get a T6 over an Asp since it can be a very, *very* decent explorer but people always seem to throw it on the same pile as the T7 and T9. Matter of fact I do have an Asp but next exploration trip I'll be doing it on a T6.

"Decent" and "T6" in the same sentence without "not"? The T stands for trash as far as I'm concered. However even I have to admit the 6 isn't as bad as the 7 xD
