Inertial Impact Modification of Burst Laser's useless due to extreme jitter ?
The Burst Laser's modification "inertial Impact" causes extreme jitter making it nearly impossible to hit anything at all (even at close range).
(Jitter=your lasers miss very often when using gimball or turret mouints)

Aside from aiming manually is there a way to reduce jitter ? Or is this mod as useless as i think it is ?

You have to be close and stay there !!!

If special effects had no negatives will be overpowered so you have to adjust your fighting tactics

close means 300m and less

Does the special effect give the jitter or the upgrade itself?

Because overcharged weapon is a horrible upgrade for gimballed and turret weapons because it gives extreme jitter. Better use short range blaster... who fires a laser over 1.5km anyway?!

For Inertial Impact it is the effect that gives the jitter (3 degrees of it)

OK, thx for the info. Haven't got that special effect yet... it actually also makes no senso on a laser, but meh :)

..just chiming in to let you chaps know that the aiming jitter also "works" on fixed lasers. They're pretty to watch, but I wouldn't use the mod,.. unless you want to have a "mini-cytoscrambler." :)

Which brings us back to "who shoots a laser over 1.5 km anyway"?! :)

That'd be me then :p

Of couse the mods may not be overpowered but a weapon missing 7/10 shots is quite useless as it would have to be 70% better just to be equal.
The aiming jitter doenst sound too bad on paper but in fact it does not even hit a ship right in front of you if it is facing you and not maneuvering up or down.

In any case thanks for the heads up that the aiming jitter is even active when using fixed lasers.

People who want to fire then move out of range when their shields get low?

Not me but people do lol

I beg to differ

You won’t miss from this distance :

giving up lots of DPS then. Lasers do much lower damage at a distance. Also the chance to hit is much higher close up :)

I'd only fire at long distances if my capacitor wouldn't drain.

@arik i meant a ship not going up or down but facing you head on.
The ship in your screenshot is moving "upwards". in that case it is easier to hit because it covers more screenspace

You maneuver to get in this position the weapon is not designed for head on attack or even behind attacks only below or above will work and the bigger the better.

Special tactics for special effects that’s the name of the game.

of course that is desriable however i fly vulture which is not that maneuverable (even when using up and down thrusters) So especially the mor nimble ships Viper and lower will mostly face me head on. .... Maybe i have to drop the vulture since they beefed up the enemy ships it became much weaker...

Don’t drop the vulture what you have to do is boost pass your opponent and maneuver to be on top of him or below what I recommend to learn advance maneuvers is to do kill missions when you have to interdict and start from a head on position or go to an anarchy system and let yourself get interdicted .

Always choose lower combat rank and move yourself up to the ranks

Eagles, sidewinders are not recomented for this special effect I use plasma and you can shoot a maneuvering eagle passing you but my jitter is only 1degree anything above that is very difficult
