Keybind for "untarget"?
I have a Vulture. I'm in a RES. I have a wanted pilot in my sights, targetted. C3 gimballed beam, c3 fixed frag cannon. I open fire. Target drops chaff. I now need to untarget them so I can hit them with my C3 gimballed beam laser. Is there a keybind to do this instantly? The only solution I have found tends to target police ships in front of me instead, which seems like a bad move. Anyone found a solution to this?

does not hitting "target" again do that?

You mean "target what is in front of you" key? It works most times, unless a police craft happens to be directly in front of me. Then..... bad things happen.

Please implement this, Frontier. It's getting ridiculous now, when I am accidentally targetting *cargo cannisters* in front of me because there is no button to untarget in a dogfight.

Seriously, does nobody else find this irksome?

Might be something to pop into the suggestions forum if it's not there already.

Yeah, I really should, thanks.
I've had issues with Frontier forum though. Difficulty logging on and the like.
Waiting until they merge store and forum logons, hopefully soon, then I'll suggest it.

Yeah, I'd definitely like that as well.

It is possible if you before you enter into combat select an 'escape' system and have a keybinding for 'target next system in route' under TARGETTING option set.. Then just select that keybinding to 'untarget' a ship.
Or quickly go to your Nav panel and lock a destination.

Thanks man, you suggested this before and I forgot to try it. Will give it a go next time I try - currently serving a 6day bounty in my homebase cos I accidentally shot a pirate's wingmate before I scanned him, cos I accidentally targeted him when the pirate used chaff ;)
I'll try that next time, sounds like a workaround at least.

another solution is to make a weapon group with just youre D scanner and switch to that when you want to stop firing switch back again when you want to continue

Thanks, I am going to try this as a workaround, until "untarget" is added. Because another great solution would be for Frontier to add a keybind for this pretty basic function!

Highly doubt that, since it fully works as an untarget fucntion, you'll see :) it even works when you dont have a route planned ;)

Ah, ok, now this makes me more optimistic.
Maybe this forum will be spared future whining from me on the topic!
Just seems to be annoying me more recently since NPCs use so much chaff nowadays.
