QUESTION: Mining, collector limpet controller

Hi,
i have got Elite Dangerous (No Horizon, but i will buy it later...).

I want to do Mining and i allready did mining with a Hauler (Mining Laser + Raffinery) but i do not know how to get the Limpet Drones.

Where can i buy a Limpet Controller and where can i buy the Limpet-Drone Amunition?

I was visiting 3 Stations but i could not find it. (Do i have to buy Horizion to use that feature?).

To find what you need, you can use eddb.io.

But most high-tech stations should have them.

There are a variety of limpet controllers. Depending on what you are flying, you want 1 or more collector controllers (more limpets, quicker you collect), and a prospector limpet controller, i usually just go with a 1A, not much use for more than 1 prospector limpet at a time. In case you are not aware, a prospector limpet increase the quantity of fragments from a rock, so if you find a nice painite rock, you'll get more out of it if you have used a prospector limpet first.

Limpets themselves you can get almost anywhere, as long as there is a restock option at the station. All limpet controllers use the same limpets, you don't need to stock up on different types.

Agony_Aunt has it covered pretty much :) The only thing I could add to that, is that your limpets go into the cargo hold along with anything you're carrying, so you don't want to completely fill up on them or you'll have no room for anything else until you drop/use some.

Collector modules stack so fit as many as you can. I use 3 of them and that gives me 6 limpets at once.

also don't forget to fit a prospector module, your earnings will be far greater with that.
