Joystick and Gamepad for Elite Dangerous
Joystick and Gamepad for Elite Dangerous
Hello, I need somebody recomend to me one joystick and one gamepad for the games I say here for the HTC VIVE.
Elite Dangerous
CDF Starfighter
Final Strike
DCS World
I don't want to know the technology useful for those games and hardware. I need you tell me the best joystick and the best gamepad or the better for this games. Please tell me the brand and model. I have the PS4 controls and are not working and also I have sidewinder Force Feedback of Microsoft and is not working too, just for Elite Dangerous and very bad.
Thank you in advance. :-)

I have a trusty old sidewinder force feedback and works great with Elite . no force feed back but works great.

Saitek X52 works good, X52 pro has a couple of more bells and whistles for a bit more money. The upcoming Thrustmaster T16000M FCS HOTAS has been developed on partnership with Frontier and looks pretty hot. The Saitek x56 rhino has the main advantage of split throttle if you pilot twin engine ships in the other games, like DCS' A10 module.

Never ever played a flight sim on a gamepad but I figure an off the rack Xbox style one should do just fine. Elite has xbox bindings on it so it's pretty much guaranteed to work.

Saitek X-65F
It has a force sensing stick and a nice, solid throttle quadrant with a really nice button and hat placement.
It may feel strange at first, but after a while, you'll come to prefer pushing against its hard, solid shaft, rather than wiggling those other floppy sticks about. :3

(No, I'm not even kidding, as unbelieveable as that may sound. ^_^ )

I though the force feedback in Elite Dangerous it was with less buttons than really need but Old Coot says is great then I am going to try again with a good tutorial

Think I play with VR glasses so I need the keyboard with more buttons programed I can, to not to be looking for the keyboard

Thank you for all of you for your contributions. :-) I will tell you which one I decide and the reasons for.

I tried the Thrustmaster X-flight but sent it back after a week in favor of the X52 Pro. For ED the x52 just maps better and can work without a keyboard. I did play with the Steam controller for a bit...it works for the most part but you can't fly nearly as well....some of the button combinations you'll need to use on a gamepad cant be done without dropping it..

ED is a flight game. It needs flight controller.

I did do the "throttle detent removal" mod on my x52.

i bought a thrustmaster hotas x and i have to say for £25 its a fantastic buy,and works a trat with this game.

the only hard part is the game itself and configuring the stick to the game.

took 2 hours just to get that you cant adjust the yaw,as it uses pitch and roll, which is a horrible flight mechanic

my gripe with it was the "rudder" controls on the throttle onlyndo lateral thrust, while the x52 has a POV hat that basically lets you split all lateral controls to your left hand and axial controls to your right. there's also more buttons requiring less "shift" modes necessary to map all the buttons....but yeah for the price its fantastic.

I use the X52pro since 2010 and used the T Flight Hotas before.
Both had been used to play Freespace 2 and Battlefield 2142 First Strike (Star Wars Mod).

The T Flight Hotas is a cheap entry level Hotas and a good beginners choice.
For some games with a more arcade style of dogfighting (Battlefield 3 & 4) it's even better than the more expensive X52pro.

The X52pro has much more precision, sniping turrets in Freespace 2 works great while the T Flight Hotas can't do that.
The X52pro has also much more buttons and a 8 way ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hat on the throttle ideal to map the vertical and lateral thrusters in Elite Dangerous.
Throttle and stick are connected with a PS2 cable and are one game controller in your systems controll panel.
Thats a big difference to the X52pro successors like the X55 and X56.

If money isn't a matter I would suggest the X52pro

What do you think about this one: Saitek - Pro Flight X56 Rhino ?
