Cargo / Death question

So I just started playing around so probably a very newbie question. Here it goes:

I have accidentally dropped my cargo near the station, tried to pick it up unsuccessfuly, got stuck in the station geometry. ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off the station authorities and they destroyed my ship. When returned to the place where I dropped my cargo, it was gone. If I die does the cargo automaticly dissappears or somebody quickly picked it up? I tried to see if it was around but scanning the area showed nothing it seems?

If you die it resets the instance you were in (Unless there was other players present in open) so your cargo just disappears. Cargo also has a lifespan on it so over time it will self destruct.
