Confused About Optional Internal Cargo Slots
Are not all optional internal cargo slots created equal? For the first few slots on my Python's optional internal, I can fit up to a 64-slot cargo bay, but as I go further down, the rest of the slots can only have diminishing sizes fitted. How does this work?

Modules have sizes of their own; thus a Size Four Module can fit a bigger cargo rack than a Size Two etc.

Internal slots are listed by size, going down. Slots range from size 1 to 8. Not all ships have the same amount or size slots.

Cargo comes in racks of 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, and 256

I see it now, thanks.

Aside from what the fellow CMRDs said, I'm amazed that you played the game enough to buy a Python, but didn't realized how the modules worked.

In fact, the number and size of the internal modules are one of the defining factor that makes some ships really good, or not that good for different roles.

Usually the multirole ships have the better layout, but they are more expensive than specialized ships.

I didn't realize because I have never done trading in my time playing, aside from using cargo slots that were already in a Type-6. Also, the ui has changed since I played (maybe I just had a brain fart, but everything looks a bit different to me).

It heavily matters outside trading, too. My ship can take a size 7 shield generator, I don't want to be buying, say, a 4 or 5 if I expect combat.

Yeah, they're not very common. The Type-9 (1xC8) and the Imperial Cutter (2xC8) are the only ships in the game that can fit a size 8 cargo rack (256 tons).
