Hey Syncro, it could possibly be because there is no way to get there without making a jump that is too long for your ship's jump drive?
I'm manually navigating right now actually. For some reason I couldn't get a "planned" route so I had to hyper cruise or whatever you call it there on my own.
Thanks for the help guys.
Plot route failed pretty much means that the route plotter isn't able to find a path from where you are to where you want to go with your current jump range. To overcome this problem, you pretty much have to buy a better Frame Shift Drive, and/or strip some weight off your ship, perhaps even drain your fuel tank a bit to increase the jump range slightly.
If you mean you're flying in supercruise (the one you use when going towards stations), then that won't work. The jump animation is a loading screen for the next system, so if you try to fly to another system in supercruise, you won't arrive to anything else than a target reticule in empty space. (I've done it myself to test). In addition, going closer so the system is within your jump range doesn't work either, jump distance is chosen by how long the distance is from star A to star B on the galaxy map, not how close you are to star B's target reticule.
If you actually can't make the jump, maybe it's because, when you have a load of cargo, your jump distance is reduced. Two ideas: one is empty your hold and see if you can make longer jumps, the other is to try and craft an FSD boost in your inventory, to extend your jump range for that one jump.
Edit:
That could be a cause too, usually it's caused by a jump being a bit larger than your jump range when your fuel tank is full or you have cargo weighing you down.
yeah, I'll do other missions until I get a better FSD, thanks.
