Mining not worth it now
Well Hopfully I'm not the only person who feels this way, but I don't want to waste 2 to 3 hours mining for only a few million credit profit. I feel that this supply and demand has ruined mining, for me at least. People tell me to just sell and move on, but if we all sell for what we can then the prices will always be low and mining will not be worth the time it takes, especially void opal mining. You might think I'm having a sook and fair enough. The biggest part in the game for me is the mining, but now I'm not wasting a few hours a night for such little gain. Unless it gets fixed to how it was I guess I'll be playing less ED and more Star Citizen. Once again, have a go at me all you want, but I cant be the only person having a cry about this.

shortsighted: Earning credits is the very essence of this game.

Kind of shortsighted... Last I played the essence of this game was flying a spaceship.

My misanthropic self says Frontier has sold enough copies in the last sale to wash down the game (lengthen the grind) even if it results in a few players quitting. They have the vets, who will stay and some people who dont care at all = more than before.
If you quit this game because you have to accept 750,000 credits per opal instead of 1.6 million because those markets get crashed quickly when they're discovered, then you're an idiot. Not you, langer, but anyone who would actually walk away in a huff because they had to sell their haul for 35 million instead of 91 million for the sake of sanity and convenience.

Agreed... The amount of entitlement is over 9000. People come here to complain about 6-digit profits per tonne :D Meanwhile people running trade routes drool over 750k profit per cargo hold :steamsalty:

So let the market cool. We have head this update less than a week, take a few days off and see what happens.

The fake market isn't going to "cool" since it has just been maipulated. It has been limited quite a bit with clear restrictions aimed at slowing credits earning down.

I have said before, i think the reason they did this was to prevent everyone being able to afforrd a fleet carrier. It makes sense, and to me, it's the only reason that makes sense.

Being fake doesn't mean it won't cool. It's a new mechanic that reacts to how frequently an item is sold. Eventually it will reset, unless people keep dumping mining products at the lower prices.

There are many interesting real life parallels but the point is, this change has been active less than a week. Saying it will never recover is like saying it will never light again after sunset, or warmth is forever denied because its winter now and so it always will be.

Thought about that too, since i didnt do mining reading about those numbers is kind of unreal when making around 10-15 mil /h was acceptable for trading in a t7.
Maybe they wanted to hit Mining and trading got a ricochet...maybe it was too hard for them to think of the repercussions (But then one must think they wouldnt play their own game...) across the board (how about limiting actual demand/supply on mining products?)... I cant give them the benefit of the doubt, Im too new of a player of this game, so its probabaly well calculated.

Think of Elite Dangerous as a dairy farm and you're the farmer. What would you say if you had this farm and the government tells you "From now on you will only get 3 credits instead of 5 credits for a liter of milk and from now on you may only sell and to ONE customer within 100 miles even until the customer's warehouse is full. After that, there is only 1 credit per liter ".
Before the mining update you would have received 1 credit per liter of milk. Be happy it's 3 now.
Now it's 3 but every other profession pays only 1 or 2 credits per liter.

Congrats Mr. Farmer. You still make more than everyone else with less risk doing a different profession.
Weird how the farmer complains about being the most wealthy...

YAY! Capitalism! It is never enough! It's the ********can way!

On the serious side. I would have a good guffaw if they "nerfed" it further.

So I've read all comments. The ones supporting my complaint and the ones criticising my complaint. So after a few days of calming myself and reading this from other peoples perspectives i guess its something that I and many other people will just have to get used to. There are many things which people have said (for and aginst me) that make sense, that I have listened to and now agree with. Yes, void opals are still the most profitable thing to do in game, unfortunatly it will now take three if not four times as long to get the profits we were receiving before. Still not happy about it but what can you do. I would have been happier with a compromise, [more void opals per asteroid] but meh, whatever. Guess I'll jump in my explorer, spin a compass and head that way for a several thousand light years. However that alone sounds like as much fun as rep grinding in WoW.

i just took a keelback out with A 32 cargo rack and mined 7 million cred in like 20 min, the devs didnt kill mining, they just made you work for the $.
you cant sit and spam the same mining site and sell it to the same place forever, you have to know how to find what the stations need and go get it.
Pinkeh 2020 年 1 月 18 日 下午 9:41
I think it's bad change for elite miners. For a year anyone that started mining got excited with the payout. Then they go and do more mining to their heart's content. Isn't that positive feedback loop what we want in grindy games?

This change just introduces a negative feedback loop. You grind a few hours. You take it to the station. Demand plummets and the minerals aren't worth crap. Sadness. Miners don't return. More sadness.

You forgot the rest. People give up mining. Demand goes up. Savvy intelligent people that never whined about what they think they are entitled to continue to cash in. Balance is restored.

fixed*
Just like every other thing that opened insane cash payments. They seal these up because they don't want people getting to to anacondas and quitting. People working their way up experience more to the game than people who grab an anaconda and quit. (they also buy more arx)

Why are so many upset about the new patch? It is still the highest paid profession with the least risk.
