Odyssey to Horizons
What happens to my progress if I switch between the two? Or my stuff? Like if I have an SRV bay with a scorpion, switch to horizons to play with a friend, what will happen to it? If I switch back?

Honestly, it baffles me that odyssey and horizons can't play together. really annoying. Even more so that the horizons UI is actually just better and faster and won't lag or bug out.

Yeah its all server side so it saves everything. Ships, money, credits, everything. Totally safe to switch back and forth constantly if desired.

I have always played in Odyssey but found myself following a video to get to Dav's hope.
I arrived at the planet coordinates but there is NO Dav's hope settlement. Did some research and discovered that in Odyssey its at a different set of coordinates.

No I have no idea why, we are all supposed to be playing in the same sandbox are we not?

Anyway I thought I would be really cunning and simply log out and restart the game in Horizons. After I did it I was faced with the prospect of having to remap my keys.

It was at this point I suddenly realised I might have been massively stupid here. It suddenly occurred to me what happens with all my stuff over on Odyssey?

I relogged in as Odyssey and everything was normal. I then flew to the other coords and found Dav's hope.

So in short its fine to jump between the 2.

Nope. Odyssey uses different (newer) planet generation technology. As a result, some locations have changed.

If you already had a Horizons binds file, you didn't need to rebind your keys. You just needed to reset the control option to custom. And you'll have to do it every time you switch between the two versions, which is why I'm pointing out now: So you don't end up having to rebind your controls multiple times for no good reason.

Most of the time, yes.

There are certain occasions where you won't be able to load into Horizons after playing Odyssey. For instance if you're in an apex taxi in Odyssey, and you quit the game it won't let you back in to Horizons... At least it never used to. They might have fixed that one by now (it was about 8 updates ago I last saw the problem).

If you duplicate the Custom keybinds files, change the name, and alter the name inside the file you can keep them and NOT rely on 'Custom'
