Elite Dangerous

The game is restarting my pc (solved)
I'm having an issue where when entering the starport service my pc suddenly shuts down and restarts. No blue screen or anything or error message, it just restarts. This doesn't always happen but even when it doesn't, I notice some slowdown when entering the service. When I just fly out into space everything's fine. This issue suddenly started, I had no problems with the game for about 15 hours. Other games work fine as well. Does anybody know what's wrong?

Edit: I bought a new psu and got some better cooling. The problem is gone now. It probably was the temp. Thanks for the help everyone!

thermal event. check your CPU or GPU not overheating.
Thanks for responding! I did check my temps, but when monitoring it the temps seemed stable around 70 degrees or something for both my cpu and gpu. Is that too high? I'm using a i7-2600 and a GTX980Ti. I even got a new case to ensure a better airflow, however the problem only started after that.
it's not too high. must be something with the game then. either reinstall or try to repair...
Tried both of that already unfortunately. I did get an error for the cpu temp when running the power supply test of OCCT. So it does sound like something temperature related, but when actually monitoring it the temps never get too high. Could there be something wrong with my psu perhaps? I do have random restarts from time to time where the comuputer shuts off while going to sleep.
Do you have any overclock on that 980TI for example mine has a gaming mode in the Asus GPU tweak which causes crashes in the Combat Zones so you may want to try running the video card in normal mode
Thanks for responding! It's an MSI GAMING X edition so yeah it does have an overclock on it. I have no idea how to underclock it but I'll look into that, see if it works. Don't understand why that would lead to a shutdown of my pc though.

well when you overclock you are actually drawing more power from PSU so if you are saying that your computer is shutting down on various games then perhaps you do have a problem i suggest you download firestrike and run a benchmark and see if the problem lies within your computer

I have no issues with other games though, just random restarts sometimes when the computer goes to sleep. I'll try the benchmark.

Edit: I did the basic firestrike benchmark and no issues there. So idk :(

I guess the computer thinks youve had enough gametime for tonight, and you should go to bed ;)

Haha, if only I had such a considerate computer! :P
1st of all, what size psu do you have?
If it's too small, it will do some weird stuff like rebooting.

Download the MSI gaming app and set the profile to gaming mode because i have the same problem with Asus Strix when using the OC mode in CombatZones https://us.msi.com/Graphics-card/GTX-980-Ti-GAMING-6G.html#hero-overview

This guy is running a legendary CPU probably overclocked to hell paired with a 384 bit GPU he probably has a decent PSU

1. buy can of Air
2. unplug system from wall and wait 30 mins for it to fully cool down
3. remove cover
4. blow out everything if you havent done this in the last few months it will be full of dust
5. replace cover
6. plug back in

now your heat problems will be gone for about another 3-6 months.

wait i just saw you have an i7-2600 i had a i5-2500 and i want to know are you using the stock cooler on that if so thats the problem its at 70 degress that is way too high you need a new cooler get this one its cheap and will lower your temps to about 40 degrees

https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Hyper-212-RR-212E-20PK-R2/dp/B005O65JXI/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1476145805&sr=1-1&keywords=212+cpu+cooler

i used this one on my 2500 and it lowered my temps by 20 degrees its big as hell so you will need to see if it can fit in your case. and what case did you buy?
