Boarding ship from SRV while docked at a surface outpost.

I docked my ship a surface base which took the appearance of a small city surrounded by a massive permiter wall, an I ntocie I had the option to deploy my SRV. This resulted in my SRV being deplyed from a tunnel underneath my ship's launchpad.

After wondering around the base I found I was unable to find away back into my ship. As such, I'm stuck outside of my ship with my fuel running down.
Does anyone know how to board a ship while docked at a base like this?

Additionally, is there a way to leave the confines of such a base's walls when in an SRV?

you find a garage then request docking just like with the ship then press 3 to board the ship from inside the garage.

to leave walled bases search for the large exit gates with ramp.

I don't have any contacts which have a option to request docking.

EDIT: Ok so NOW it gives me a boarding option, thanks for the advice.
My second question still stands though if anyone knows the answer.

select the base then request docking.

1) move SRV under ship until you hear a click and see Board in right panel light up.
2) Press 3,
3) on front panel select SRV, then select, a panel pops up on right side,
4) choices should be Dismiss Ship, Transfer Cargo, Board Ship, Details, Back
5) select Board Ship

You have 2 options
move close to the outpost and request docking, it will direct you to a garage for you to board your ship

move away from the outpost a few KM... recall your ship, ship lands close to your srv, you go under it and board your ship
