mid tier pvp: DBS or Vulture or Imperial Courier
thinking of pimping one of the 3 as a sideproject for some fun mid tier pvp...

I used to fly a silent runnig DBS back in the day of the old meta. I like the looks the handling and the jumprange. However, never tried the Courier and really intruiged by the fact you can put a high performance thruster in and the strong shields are interesting too... also Vulture of course is a great ship in that range...

I would want to target FDLs and Pythons mainly to see if I can get them down in pvp...

any oppinions? especially on the courier vs the two as I never flew one and would have to get reputation with the empire...

For PvP, I'd say DBS if you're targeting lone, larger ships as it appears you are. Use Reverbarating Cascade Torpedoes in the medium slots to take out their shields, and then put at least 1 cannon in the small slot to take out powerplants. If you go with 1 cannon put a missile rack in the other to knock out drives, or just go with 2 cannons (recommended). Put long range on the cannons, as that increases the shell velocity.

Mod the power plant with low emmisions and the thrusters with clean drive tuning.
Hull reinforcements in the internals, and heat sinks combined with point defence on the utilties. Silent running pretty much the whole time except to fire the torpedos as that generates a lot of heat.

Only downside is if they avoid the torpedoes there's basically no way to win.

For a fight where you don't have to rely on Torpedoes, I'd go with the vulture.
The Courier, while being much faster, is less maneuverable and drifts a bit after a boost. The Courier also has a severely limited distributor compared to its weapon loadout.
I have no experiance with DBS, but I can say either of the other two are great choices. If possible with the courier use two pack hounds with Thermal Cascade and a beam laser and you will make quick work of most ships.
i like the Imperial Courier its cheap and packs a punch with 1 beam laser under the nose and 2 multicannons it can take on most small/medium ships easy and with the right pilot even the large ships are no match for it.

As someone whose Python was interdicted many many times by human players, including in those ships, none of them ever gave me any hassle, to be honest.

If I was forced to fight any of them, as opposed to boosting away, I would probably say the Vulture for its sheer durability and hardpoints seemingly made for PVP.

The DBS easily concerns me the least, last time I was interdicted by one, I decided to collect the bounty on his head instead of running away. Dangerous ranked CMDR, his ship only strayed into my MC fire, and he was Space Swiss Cheese in seconds. If I didn't know how to do the FA turning trick, it might have been a fairer fight.
