I would mine but my FDL isnt fitted to mine. I would just buy a cheap sidewinder to mine but the fact is I can not transfer cargo between ships.
just buy cargo for your fdl thats hold 2 spaces than get the siewinder mine 2 of them and than switch ships.. the cargo will be in your FDL
*I will keep an eye out for this, thanks!^
I mined out 3 tons of Praesodymium yesterday in a low-reserves metallic ring, but it took awhile and there was a lot of prospecting that had to be done to find the right rings.
It doesn't cost terribly much to properly outfit a ship - cargo, refinery, mining lasers, and collector/prospector limpet controllers. You can get most or all of these at a High Tech. Just make sure to pack lots of limpets, you will need a lot to find Praeso-rich asteroids.
This next run, I'm up to 20 units of praseodymium already.
Really!?!?! Didnt know that! I appricate the info a lot.
I remember the idea being mentioned but didn't realize it had been implemented either. Thanks a bunch!

I will def check it out. I never mined before so if this site aint far from where im located, ill for sure give it a shot.
Head to Delkar 7 and take the inner most ring. Read up on some mining tutorials to make surre you're properly equipped. A prospector limpet controller is a must if you're looking for something specific
You will need to load up on some limpets which are programmable, multi-purpose drones. Go to the Restock tab in the station services and load how ever many limpets you want, I typically go with about one third of my cargo space. Collectors will pick up floating items and bring them to your ship. Prospectors are launched and fly in a straight line until they reach an asteroid and will tell you how much of what is in it.
When you start mining, the collectors will pick up the fragments for you and the fragments will be put in the refinery to be sorted into the bins. When one of the bins reaches 100%, it will deposit one unit of that resource into your cargo bay.
I don't see why not. I'd guess it would be awesome; I've seen people setting their Sidewinders up for mining before, so a Python should be excellent at it.
I've done all my mining in an Anaconda, so space was a luxury.
