Compact Composites?

Where do I find them? They are classed as 'very common' but i've not found a single one in the past two hours, whilst in that same time i've found 7 Thermic alloys, classed as rare, and improvised components which are classed as VERY rare.

Am i doing this wrong? INARA says that you find them in USS, and the Wiki says Conflict zones. I've not found them in either. Am I missing something?

If you are having trouble getting them, look for something rarer (which ironically can be easier to get) and then trade down.

I often do this with materials and data when i know i can get something rarer easier.

Another trick is to travel to a CZ with another player, don't wing up. You remain neutral, they pick a side and blow stuff up. You just follow them around harvesting what drops. Be careful not to get stuck in the middle of the fight and don't shoot anything!

Yeah i just traded in some proprietary composites because i've got well over 70 of them, I kid you not, three of them got me 57 compact composites, so i'm good pretty much forever now

Haha, no. Engineering drains you so fast, it hurts. Can't count how many times I had to go purely for hours of HGE grind to get stuff I need, and it was all drained in no time again and again...
