I can see being too close where that would suck.
The Ion Disruptor affects only the one locked on.

No. I've never had any luck with mines...and I usually either boost away too fast or destroy the pirate. There are some changes coming to mines in 2.2 so I'd wait and see how it plays out.
From what I've read, you won't be able to just fly away and keep droping mines to destroy the opponent ship, so mods like this may become more important. Rebooting FSD only gives you about 10 seconds.
in my experience if you can boost away to the point where the opponent drops off your scanner before you go back to SC they take a MUCH longer time to follow you, if they do at all...so maybe rebooting their thrusters would help you get out of range.

There is also the option of going for reverberating cascade. Drop mines, take down their shield, then turn around and blast them!
yeah...good luck turning around a T9. Their shields will be back up to full strength before you turn around.
So far it has worked real nice....even made a few top tier pirates run! :D
