Elite Dangerous

What ships work as passenger ships?
Starting to rack up some money from exploration, and I heard passenger missions paid well. I know you can slap a passenger lounge in some ships, but are there specific ones that you need? Keep in mind, I'm a plebian that doesn't know a whole lot about Elite.

I also searched it and trust me.... I you don't have a Beluga, you won't earn a lot of money. I have a Dolphin and it's not profitable

it depends on where you are. My dolphin paid for itself in one trip.

@OP: any ship with a large number of fairly big module slots will work however only the Dolphin, Orca, and Beluga can equip luxury cabins.

Got it, thanks.

Oh and for what it's worth, unless you want to RP being a limo driver or something, the dedicated passenger liner things are completely useless.

That's not even close to true. Any ship can fit cabins. Common choices are the T6, T7, Anaconda, and Python.

My Dolphin paid for itself and made a profit the first trip.

Dolphin is a solid choice if you are just getting into passenger missions.

Plus it’s a fun ship to fly. Uber nimble in SC and regular space too.

Anaconda with mostly first and a couple of business class cabins.

It really depends on where you are, some places will favor economy, and some first class or business.

But the Anaconda is king.

Not having a fuel scoop really makes me really paranoid
Vikes546 Apr 22, 2018 @ 3:15pm
Well...how many hops are you going between pickup -> delivery?

You'll obviously want one for any long haul missions.

Like, in theory the Anaconda can have something like a 43ly per jump range. But it can only do that like 3 times before you need to gas up.

when everybody else was(and still is) making thier fortune doing sothis-ceos mining and data hauls i was doing named passenger runs from the same station (new dawn) over to sothis atmospherics and back with my python, i averaged 6-8mill a trip, almost never had to flip the board and could be heading back out with my second load in sothis watching those who had left on my first trip just returning through sothis half way through thiers first
i made a butt load, and have not worked since

I could ditch a size 4 4E cabin for a 4B scoop, having my tank under half just feels wrong to me.

If you do A-B neihboring systems with some distance from star to delivery destination station you'll never need a fuel scoop.

Problem is, I either ditch cargo for a tiny scoop or sacrifice a big passenger lounge for a good scoop.

This is true, to a point. It depends on how frequently you fuel scoop. If you do it at every single star on your trip to top off your tank, you can easily make do with a smaller one (assuming you don't get like 7 brown dwarf / tauri stars in a row). If you go til you're nearly empty then gas up, yeah, you'll want a large fuel scoop unless you enjoy looping the star 12 times.

For example, any time I go long-range in my Python I pack my 6C fuel scoop (the B and A versions don't seem worth extra money). My next hop is nearly always like a 1/4 orbit around or to the side of the star, and the fuel scoop has usually completely topped off my tank by the time I've lined up to jump. It EASILY fills up the tank if it's anything like half an orbit. It's honestly overkill in most cases unless I get the aforementioned 7+ jumps without a fuel star.

Like caaront said, if you're going a set distance all the time between 1 spot and another a fuel scoop is useless. Gasing up at either station is a much better bet, and it's so cheap that the time spent near a star is wasted. A complete fill up is like, what, 5k credits?
