do you think you can wait for it's big brother? it is much better at it, the asp range is better imo too for versatility and practicality
you need to get engineered FSD unlocked first to + alot of the others help plenty with specialized gear but not essential
but, if you must this is about the best you can do stock

yep, you don't put guns on explorers

In general, D rate as much as you can comfortably get away with (unlike a LOT of folks, I'm ok with a d rated power plant, but usually you A rate this for heat management for fuel scooping)

Make sure you have a discovery scanner (preferably advanced, but intermediate is enough to get your feet wet) and advanced surface scanner. A fuel scoop is also necessary. Also, take more heatsinks than you think you need.

Optional stuff: SRV, AMFU/Repair limpet controller (one of these will become mandatory for longer trips), shields.

Bah, a d back scout took me to the coalsack nebula when I was starting out lol. But I do agree with you on the Asp X for serious exploration.

i am in a python at the moment of too colonia 20ly jump range.
stacked two class 5 fuel tanks, 6a fuell scoop, 6a amfu , with a few other things and it is A rated
if you want to explore then i think a low jump range is great
if you want to get some where fast then bigger jump range.

but with this low jump range i have discovered over 100 planets net worth over 20mil
saw this larva red planet that look cool.
i would post the picture but i save all my trip in high resolution 200mb per pic lol
oh well 7000ly into my journey and only 708jumps to go.
think after this trip i can say i know what exploring is.

after colonia i might just keep going.

my suggestion is find what works for you
as someone elses setup might be something you dont like

Never realized how much more profitable exploration was compared to bounties

Took me 30 mins to an hour (maybe an hour and a half) to make 1million in my python. Takes a LOT longer to make your money as an explorer.

of course, bounty hunting doesn't have the thrill of seeing a planet discovery being credited to you =)

I'm using the Road 2 Riches site to help with planning routes, only scanned 3 of the 7 planets in the route and got about 2.2 mil

considering bounties only had around 10k-100k for me most the time. this is much more intersting

Fair enough on both lol. And when I was first starting out, I literally only did bounty hunting until I had enough cash to outfit a dback scout for exploration.

I also seem to remember the scout being able to take more ♥♥♥♥ than it can.......or i'm forgetting what i did without lol

I'll finish my route sometime later, I should actually have enough for an ASP when I finish too.

Asp X is a fantastic ship. It really spoiled me.
