Is it okay to "interrogate" a "Freedom Class Survey Vessel"?

First one I've seen. While approaching I was informed that I could use the Data-link scanner to scan for targets... so I did.
I was then told I could "interrogate the targets".. which I would have.. had I not noticed how many of them were weapons emplacements.

...given how many of them are weapons emplacements, and that I am in an unarmed and barely-shielded cargo ship-that-got-curious... I figured I should ask before potentially ticking this thing off.
